well, i want to work… like with something about Halo. preferably in 343i, but im terrible at math, art/graphic design. but i really love Halo, and want a career in it. but im not even sure if anyone with my “qualifications” could contribute to Halo.
i know nothing about coding or writing scripts, but i know a ton about the Halo games and canon. i thought about doing like a website, but that just isnt enough.
but yeah, i was just going to email them and ask for advice. like, wether i should start trying to learn coding and video games? cuz im already in my Junior year in HS, and it seem really hard like i would need years of education in it.
Best advice I can give is to make a name for yourself. Not so much asking them, but making them take notice of you. If you create some quality wrk, and are the best at what you do, people will notice.
well i’ve already got 10-15 fans on Yahoo Answers (i answer Halo questions) Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos
and a Halo blog, but only 4 followers on that, but i get about 450 hits a month
i’ve advertised a little on Halo Waypoint, and other places, but im just not gettting attention.
Start with a degree in your field of interest. Work from there.

thats the thing. i dont know where to start. i dont have any foundation whatsoever in coding and videogames. the only thing i know is canon, and the games themselves.
and if i were to start college with game design and coding and whatnot, what if it turns out to be too hard? there. i’ve thrown out 2+ years of my life and $5k+

College gives you plenty of opportunity to change career paths. Instead of focusing on a career, focus on a major you’ll enjoy in college; a career will come naturally. I’ve changed my major from Commercial Music Production to Engineering, to Theoretical Physics, to Zoology, and I’m currently double majoring in Creative Writing and Japanese Language. You just have to find something you’re good at and enjoy doing.
343i employs a variety of individuals across a number of different fields, the key to getting hired, and this goes for any career, is that you have to give the employer a reason and desire to hire you. Buy a C++ for Dummies book. Try a coding class. Design a basic website. If you don’t like those things, and they don’t suit your style, try writing. Write some short stories or character developments. Take a couple of fiction technique classes. Do the same for graphic design, see if that suits you.
Going into my third year at university, I’ve learned that the best thing you can do is ask people who have careers in the field you want how they got there; what they majored in, how they discovered the postion, what they did to get hired, etc. Not every employee is going to be reluctant to release this information, but there are some out there to help you.
If a job in the video game industry is what you desire, all you really need to do is what rukizzel said: make a name for yourself. Network and meet people, get your creations and knowledge out there. Just because you’re a junior and high school and have no background in coding or graphic design doesn’t mean you’re behind; everyone’s gotta start somewhere.
Just do what you enjoy, and a career will not be far behind.
Note: I prefer not saying what I truly want to do.
By the way, I’m also proficient in halo lore and fiction. I loooovveee to have talks about halo lore. What can help yo get noticed is if you do something and get involved. Take vociferous for example. Ascendant justice. Big fan. Bam!
I personally have my own little thing that I will grow. I’m the head chief of the halo wars council and my team and I will try to bring new life into halo wars. Start somewhere. And if you truly want something, go for it. There will be many people who will tell you that you can’t do it. If you truly want something, you can get it if you’re willing to do what is required to get it. The journey won’t be easy, there will be many obstacles. But each obstacle is just another challenge. Each obstacle is that thing that makes you more tired so when you’re thirsty, that salty water will be the best thing you ever tasted. Each weakness can be a strength. It is up to you to decide what your goal is and stick trough the bumpy and derailing journey. You might discover more things. Anything and everything is part of your big journey and it is up to you to decide where to take it. Nothing is impossible, just some things are highly improbable, so defy the odds.
