I just beat the game on Heroic… Amazing game, by the way, if any staff at 343 Industries is reading this…
But, well, I want to beat it on Legendary, to unlock the Mark VI armor. I barely got through the first two levels, and 3/4’s of “Forerunner” with my brother. I’m curious to know how the better players on the forum do it. I’ve gotten through Heroic pretty fine. How hard is the later levels on Legendary, compared to Heroic?
Oh, by the way, if anyone who hasn’t beaten Midnight yet, I’d like to say, that Gravity Hammer + Suppressor/ Light Rifle= Dead Knights.
Light Rifle + Watchers, usually equals Dead Watchers. Just make every shot count. And try not to be distracted by the Knights.
If anyone who’s better at this game is reading this and plans to comment, thanks, in advance.
Noob Combo on Elites and Prometheans when you can, and on the last level, there is a good amount of Incineration Cannons around with plenty of ammo which will make the fights against groups of Promethean Knights a cake walk.
Plasma Pistol is your friend. Kill a Grunt, grab a fresh one. Track your checkpoints. If you clear an area out, make sure you get a checkpoint. Backtrack if you have to.

Pretty much this, I beat solo legendary and other than a few tough parts with loads of knights/elite generals it wasn’t too bad.
General Tip: LightRifle, Carbine, BR, DMR are your best friends. Don’t underestimate Assualt Rifle, Suppressor and the Storm Rifle, those weapons are very effective at close range. Take your time, use cover and the best AA’s you can have are Hologram and Active Camo.
> I beat it solo legendary. Takes patience - I recommend keeping the auto turret as long as you can.
On top of this, be exceptionally careful when in large environments as, normally speaking, there will be multiple routes to access and enemies will utilize those when on Legendary more frequently.
Besides that, patience is absolutely key, that and figuring out how to stay alive most of the time when crawlers are present.
One final piece of advice: plasma pistols drop Promethean shields. Use it when you can.
-First of basic is you always want one precision weapon light rifle, dmr,br,carbine as primary weapon. Then as secondary plasma pistol when available, needler, rocket launcher incineration cannon, scatter shot so forth.
-Second the sentry AA is your buddy it makes killing Promethean’s all so much easier ever shot counts and it can make the difference of killing a promethean before shield pops back up. Hologram helps to distract. Hardlight to get out of bad situation.
-Third is patience, pick off smaller targets crawlers so forth with head shots. Elite’s just use old tactics overcharged plasma pistol then headshot.
-Promethean, i either used a needler which performs extremely well against them, or i unloaded half a clip, reloaded as fast i could then unloaded the fresh clip headshot dead worked extremely well when i got that pattern down. Again sentry AA makes Prometheans a cake walk. Also two quick scattershots to the face unless they had a incineration cannon.Pulse grenade to take shield down then headshot. Incineration cannon no brainer for them. Pretty much how i handled all encounters with them
Watchers- shot till dead, or shoot it so it goes away kill promothean then kill it when it tries to rez before it rez.
-If you can run past encounters, run past it, if you have a vehicle just gun it if you just have to make it to a next checkpoint or objective.
-Also remember use cover and chokepoints open spaces are bad for you, chokepoints and places they have to funnel is were its at. Remember where ammo caches are on maps they are your best friends.
