Hi everyone, can I please ask a question of you all that may assist me in a particular circumstance that I sometimes find myself in. I play from a remote online location being on the West Coast of Australia, most my games I believe I connect to the US which a minimum distance of over 15000 km’s away. A majority of my games I get bad delay which doesn’t matter what I do nothing seems to work and I cannot get kills (i.e. Shoot my opponent in the head at close range many times and melee him and I die whilst having full shields). I think most players have these games but it frequents me quite often and yes I realise that I’m not the best player also. Anyway my question is I find myself sometimes in a game of Team Arena etc. and no matter how hard I’m trying I cannot get a single kill yet I die as if my armor was made of butter and all I do is add to the opposing teams points whilst not helping my team at all. In a recent game my K/D was 0/12 and I felt so useless to my team I quit out of the game because I felt this was the right thing to do. What I would like to know from you all is what would you like a teammate to do in this situation? Are you happy for them to stay and play or do you feel that them bowing out is the right thing to do? Appreciate your advice and thanks for your time.
Well firstly I’m sorry you have to suffer through your Halo experience with such a bad connection. I know the youtuber ‘Mint Blitz’ is from Australia, and his videos don’t show too much lag. Maybe you can reach out to him and leave a comment on his videos to see if he has any advice for you.
In most cases I would rather people not quit and finish the match. Sometimes I can start a game poorly (2-10) and finish strong by breaking even.
Other times I think we might have a chance if the weak link were to quit, but the problem with that is it can have a snowball effect - one guy quits, and the next guy just figures ‘Ah, -Yoink- it, no way we can win now’, and all of a sudden it’s 2v4, where you’re basically screwed.
I hope you can fix your connection.

Thanks my friend, yes I have done everything I can at my end regarding internet connection and I have the best available. I have accepted the issues after many days of threatening to never play Halo again but I love Halo and want to keep playing so play I do through good times and bad. Yes I see what you mean about quitting out and the snowball effect I just feel so bad and useless… I feel like the naughty kid with all eyes on him for letting the team down sigh it’s so hard yet it’s just a game but a very competitive one at that which I think leads me to feeling like this.
It’s late here in America, I just noticed you said WEST coast of Australia…which now makes a lot more sense. It’s bad enough dealing with lag when you’re playing in Sydney or Cairns - let alone the boonies out west. I feel for you.
Though it might be drastic, I think a true Halo fan would uproot their life and move somewhere else. Just my two cents.
In all seriousness, if the lag is that bad, I’d recommend staying out of ranked playlists, and stick to social stuff - BTB, Fiesta, and Extermination right now are all pretty fun.

Yeah I go between ranked and BTB and Super Fiesta, I have good, bad and very bad games all in one day! The only thing I can do is play through the bad so I can enjoy the good because when I get a good game I’m like “this is what it’s suppose to be like and man that was awesome”! That’s the only thing that keeps me going and also knowing that the game itself is a very good game.
