Advanced strafing tips?

Tips?

Thrust is key. When using it, move in the opposite direction you are moving. It will throw your opponent off

It takes practice. But try not simply going right to left left to right. Switch directions sporadically, not in any sort of rhythm. To add onto the previous poster, use thruster to your advantage. A lot of things you’ll see if you watch highly ranked players is the jump thrust which adds just a little bit of “oompf” to a regular strafe thrust. Crouching can catch your opponent off guard sometimes, but it’s very hit or miss.

Tips:

  • Use long/medium strafe at long distance - Use a shorter stafe for short distance - Use a crouch strafe - Use your thruster pack (jump one way then thrust the opposite direction) - Dont be predictable and use all these techniques to beat your opponent in a 1v1 situationP.S I would watch a YouTuber called, Vetoed as he has tips on strafing and other crucial things.

I have had multiple 50s in H3, Onyx placements in Reach Arena, 50s in Halo 4 and now Onyx placements in Halo 5 and I can safely say worrying about strafing is only detrimental to your gameplay. The time you spend thinking about strafing is time you could spend worrying about your map position, teamwork and other strategies. Basically you should never be putting yourself in a situation where a 1 on 1 with another player arises where strafing is your only option. And instead of strafing you should be bouncing around and maneuvering the small parts of the map to avoid shots.

Basically, strafing is a almost useless tool that a lot of players overthink and blame for the reason they’re dying instead of looking at the big picture

Thanks guys!

Go on YouTube and look up Proximity. He has some good high level strafing tip videos.

Quite simply put practice because you develop a natural ability to evade enemy fire. You will see that happen without thinking too much.

Crouch strafing isn’t that effective imo. It may be hard to hit someone doing it if you play console primarily, but a a cs:go player it’s not very challenging. Just my opinion.

I’d say my strafe is ok, but my aim is what makes me lose gunfights.

Coming from a competitive player. The philosophy behind a strafe is not to dodge shots your opponents shots, it is too simply allow yourself to hit all of your own shots. Many players tend to misinterpret this concept and attempt to “over-strafe” which is detrimental to their own shot-strings.

Super duper true in Arena. Still true, but with some qualifications in BTB and Warzone.

Due to shear map size, there will be times in both these game modes where you will end up in open ground, taking shots.

While you should always worry about your position and team mates, sometimes all your other team mates in a push will die, leaving you alone, with no choice but to fight where you are for at least a little bit.

In any time above, good strafing technique will turn your death into a perfect reversal kill, or net you a reversal double kill.
