Advanced movement

I would love to see a slide mechanic as well as thrusters readded. Games where only gunskill exist are boring and leaves no room for skillgap

Slide mechanic is already back, thrusters seemingly aren’t in line with what 343 is envisioning for this game.

I believe strafing is more of a skill to have than thruster but that’s just me.

I’ll go on record that I was hoping for Infinite to expand on Halo 5’s feel and abilities. I think I’ll miss the thrusters and movement options.

But I’m looking forward to the release.

Im glad advanced mobility is out. Halo can now have its own identity again instead of following trends.

Slide is back. It looks like thrusters are gone though.

I was looking forward to having thrusters still, guess not anymore. Still doesn’t make me any less hype for this one, can’t wait to play!

Wasn’t too big a fan of the thrusters so I’m content with not seeing them in Infinite.

I wouldn’t be surprised if thrusters are added later to the equipment pool for customs but I agree they will never be the the standard load out in infinite.
As a fan of Halo 5’s mobility I’ll miss them dearly, but looking forward to infinite’s sandbox and combat!

Infinite is not just gun skill. Gun skill is a big part but has always been about map and sandbox knowledge. This includes map timers, map shortcuts as well as equipment usage and how that equipment can be used in creative/efficient ways. Halo was never really an ability skill game until reach - 5 and even then, it was mostly in 5 given the intrinsic nature of the abilities.

i disagree. the skill gap in shooters that rely on movement (run and gun) as much if not more so than shooters that rely on gun battles and strafing have a much lower skill gap. The skill gap in older halo titles like halo 2 and halo 3 where some of the biggest in any shooter. Games like COD, Battlefield, apex, and even the newest halos, gave more forgiveness with advance mobility allowing even lesser skilled players to run away, or get in positions faster to get that lucky kill on more advanced players. Early halos (1-3) had very little forgiveness if u did not have a very strong gun game and map awareness you would get destroyed easily. just the skill difference between Halo 2 player ranked as a legit high 20s vs a player ranked as a legit 37-40 back in 2005 is a bigger skill gap than what we have in most games today lol. Run and gun shooters have there place, are fun, and do require skill but they also add alot of forgivness

I know slide is still in it and I did love thrusters but I can live without it. Halo Infinite is going to be sick either way and I am just pumped for the Holiday. I am pretty sure they are keeping sprint as well but I do hope without thrust they raise base movement speed for better strafing.

“Games where only gunskill exist are boring and leave no room for skillgap” Lol did I honestly just read that?

And opposed to giving us a thruster which gives everyone a get out of jail free card in gun fights.

I’m totally fine with thrusters being out. Sprint is plenty. Strafe should be your main concern.

I’m going to miss thrusters. I would have kept them. Maybe toned them down a little - and made them lateral movement only (sprint into jump into thrust was a bit OP for map design).

Did you ever do sprint the thrust into a slide jump? That was the real movement

I did. Just not very well. But you can see why they had to put the brakes on it.

The boys and I actually played a game of shotguns on a remake of Beaver Creek last night. We upped the movement speed to 120%, dropped gravity a bit, and ramped the slide to 200%. It was insane.

I thought I saw thrusters in the multiplayer reveal? It was the one with the sword, and it made a zoom action.

You get that when you use the energy sword, your character does a “lunge” within a certain distance.

How to cross a map in .2 seconds.
