Ads vs actual game

For most people, when we first saw the ads and commercials for halo 5 we were excited. I know that halo ads are don’t always direct show what the content of the game will have but the tell you something. After playing the game , I can say that the ads had nothing relevant to the game.

First theirs the original halo 5 ad with the chief and the guardian. In the game, the chief was never shown facing a guardian, just entering a sleeping one and even then the guardian from the ad looked nothing like the guardian from the game but I can let that go. Then there were the chief vs Locke ads with the infinity burning in the background. The game only ever shown a brawl between the chief and Locke and the most damaged dealt was a small crack to the chiefs helmet. There was no full armor damage or injury to either Spartan. As for the infinity, it never got so much as a scratch. Then there was the chief is dead ad were blue team is seen racing across a city were a walking guardian was causing destruction. Blue team was never shown near a city in the game, only at a mining station. As far as it goes, the chief only ever saw one guardian aside from those gathered in genesis. Now again, I know halo ads never actually reveal plots directly and thru small hints and imagery, but these halo 5 ads seemed like a total waste as the told nothing about the plot. As far as I see, they feel like ads for halo 6 then halo 5. Do others get that feeling or maybe can make sense of these ads for halo 5.

I feel like the final game and the ads are two different things. The ads made me so excited and then everything was meh

Hunt the truth! (In the ads)

hunt the hype

>corrected it for you

AAA titles should not supplement the lore, they should be the focal points with supporting lore from the EU.

making halo 5 heavily dependent on “know your crap before you play” was a dickmove by 343i

After thinking it through, I really feel like the first halo 5 guardian’s ad with the Master Chief walking in the sandstorm with the cloak and cracked helmet is actually the beginning for halo 6

Possibly. I’m curious as to where the story is going to go.

ONI has pretty much told humanity that the Master Chief is dead, Halsey speculates at the beginning of Halo 5 that they’ll order Locke to kill them both (this likely takes place between Halo 5 and 6). It would make the most sense because ONI has a narrative they need to keep together. It’s unlikely that Locke will be willing to carry out those orders, so we could actually see the dark side of ONI in-game in Halo 6. Palmer and Osiris have already aligned with Blue Team so this will be an interesting development.

Things change in developement. That Guardian Trailer was probably an earlier version of the Sanghelios Guardian.

In some respects you could be right, it’s all down to a matter of opinion really. I can see how some may think the trailers are completely unrelated, but in other cases I can see how they are. I won’t go through all of them just the main 2/3?

For the first one the played right back at the beginning, you see three key things; Chief, Cortana’s chip and the Guardian. The second/third will be the ones between Chief and Locke.

You can see how the first one’s related to the game, as in Chief appears to be hunting down Cortana without authorisation(armour in disrepair and whatnot) and it seems to have led him to the Guardian. In a way this happens in the campaign when he disobeys orders to find Cortana at the beginning of the game and end’s up on a Guardian.
For the second/third ones, I’m guessing that from Locke’s point of view at the beginning of the game he’s hunting down a traitor. This ‘traitor’ has appeared to have set loose these things that are tearing colonies apart. It might be about his initial thoughts of Chiefs actions, possibly asking if everything he did to track down Cortana was worth it. For Chief’s it could be that as Locke was originally sent to stop him he’s potentially compromising the galaxy. Or they could even both be referencing what happens in the next Halo, seeing as the Infinities on fire in the background, I think. Although, I would say that you technically do hunt down the truth as Locke and in the end he decides to help Chief in anyway he can.
That’s just my speculation though, could be completely wrong
