ADS is back

So, ADS or some sort of zoom was visible on the Needler & AR in the multiplayer overview.

Thoughts?

Ew. Don’t like it. Just… why is it needed?

Doesn’t bother me at all.

Yeah ADS and the ordinance drops are something I’m not to thrilled with tbh.
If they can figure out how to NOT make it like h5’s ads i’m fine with it. But it can’t be that making every gun a medium to long range gun type stuff.
Other than that i’m fine with everything else so far.

You can see it here at 3:24ish.

It doesn’t really look like it does all that much for the AR. The zoom isn’t that intense and the range and recoil while regularly aiming seems to be fine.

I’m of two minds. It doesn’t bother me at all, but it looks redundant - so why even include it?

I think maybe it could just be allowing you to zoom or tightening your spread.

Dang, I didn’t even notice this. I’m not a fan of ADS, but it’s tolerable.

My sister pointed it out to me.

My understanding is that it’s not like ordinance drops from Halo 4. It will just take the place of vehicles respawning out of thin air

As far as ADS, I’m not thrilled about it, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me

I’m cool with ADS returning. I wonder if it is just zoom or if increases accuracy. I just wish they made different animations for each weapon like in Halo 5. The AR and Needler zoom looks the same. Kinda uninspired to be honest.

Well I mean, before the ads, each scope on all the previous Halo games were exactly the same. I dont see a reason for it to change the ADS design from Halo 5.

Seems like a mix of ADS and classic to me.

Yes, but it looks a bit bland, in my opinion. Having different animations makes the weapons more personal and cool and attention to detail does make a lot of difference. If you got to make ADS return at least make it look interesting. At least that is how I feel about it.

the ads is only on weapons without scopes. if it has a scope its classic style zoom. not a big deal at all. and the ordinance is not halo 4 ordinance man. It just named the same thing, its just a term they are using for how weapons and vehicles respawn in big team battle.

I’m not thrilled about this in the slightest… but we’re already strapped in, they’re not changing it now.

If this is true how an ADS animation is only on weapons without scopes and it’s classic style zoom is on scoped weapons, I’ll be very happy with this!!

I’m fine with it, personally. Halo has got to get with the times like everyone else with little things like that.

Not to be “captain obvious” but it’s not actually “ADS” but smart link. Weapons like the Infinite AR have only a 1.4x magnification which is pretty consistent with the H5 AR as well.

I would like to say furthermore that Halo’s zooming mechanics with smart link are not like ADS from other shooters. There’s no movement speed penalty for aiming in and getting shot knocks you out of zoom. The increased accuracy, range & spread/bloom reduction has been a thing since at least Halo Reach. It’s actually not that big of a deal. If anything it might be less obstructive.

Doenst look like its making the AR overpowerd like in Halo 5 tho. Like with sprinting the effects are more toned down it seems.

I for one enjoy ADS (which I know doesn’t seem to be the consensus); I think it’s just one of those things that is expected in FPS games this day and time, and I know there are probably some new players that wouldn’t enjoy not having ADS in an FPS game as I do still have some friends that aren’t Halo players and have a tough time with no ADS (or sprint) in some of the older games. So I suppose its potentially a method to keep the game fresh/new to attract newer players, without making it required for veterans to play the old way we always have.
