I use bumper jumper which used to be the best button layout, but since Halo has introduced armor abilities, I get gimped because clearly jet pack is the best armor ability, and you can’t use jet pack to its full potential when you cant even aim(x is armor ability for bumper jumper so you have to take off thumb to activate it). I think a good way to fix this would be to keep every armor ability the same button (x). But for jet pack, make it so if you double or triple tap the jump button + hold the button (LB) then it will be activated and will last till the ability runs out or you let go of the button. This way we no longer get gimped, and can use all the armor abilities.

Well you could always try holding your controller in the ‘claw’ position, basically have your right index finger hover over A, B, X and Y, use your middle finger on the right trigger, and as usual thumb on the stick to aim, it feels a bit odd at first but it’s no different to changing over to Bumper Jumper, just got to get used to it first.
The other alternative is to look at a controller that has extra buttons in other places for such things as abilities, there’s one I’ve heard of recently through a friend and took a look myself and they are quite costly. However, I’m not sure if it’s allowed to advertise them on here, or if they’re allowed to be used on the game.
All I know about these controllers is that they don’t add anything such as rapid fire, it’s just to make certain configurations work better, especially bumper jumper, I’m sure if you look around you’ll come across the controller I’m talking about.
Other than that, until games give us an option to do custom mapping there isn’t going to be much in terms of options than the 2 I’ve listed.
You need to play Claw or pre-aim. It sucks, but there is nothing really to do about it.
Having to Quad and Doubleshot in Halo 2 made me rather good at this so I have little problem with Jetpack’ing with Bumper Jumper.
This little gem helped me with that, I have also used bumper jumper since halo 3 and reach I avoided the jetpack like the plague. Once I saw how much 343 was screwing with the control schemes (B SHOULD NEVER BE CROUCH IN A HALO GAME) I snagged this up and for the price of a legit microsoft brand controller this thing performs leaps and bound ahead.
I still use bumper jumpper, but on my second left bumper I have my AA (Jetpack) and on my right I have my use (for easier vehicular bordering. If you have the money it is worth a text.

Best solution I’ve seen, I’m in the same boat. I can’t do claw without my aim decreasing. And I just prefer TP now.

How is jetpack useful? It turns you into a flying target imo.
jetpack is useful in cqc because you can only get headshots while the enemy gets bodyshots lol and after you kill them you can drop down for a flying t-bag
and a lot of maps have 2-3 vertical levels

same here picked up the razer onza tournament edition and I practically only use the bumpers now (has 4 bumper buttons)
