I don’t understand the hate, like at all. The common complaints are all things that don’t matter or are personal preferences.
“ThErE’s NO AsSaSSiNAtIOns!!!” As a Halo veteran who played BEFORE assassinations were a thing, I can tell you they’re a waste of time. They mostly get you killed or are stolen from you by people ACTUALLY trying to win. Sure, they’re a cool humiliation tool, but the ole T-Bag has gotten people far saltier than having to sit through an animation before having to sit through a full respawn. They don’t add anything other than flavor, and while I agree they’re cool, I don’t think they’re integral to the game.
“No ReD aND BlUe tEaMS!!!” Listen, buddy, I don’t know if you know, but the Red Vs Blue trope in gaming has been dead for a LOOONG time, like YEARS at this point, and the show has been dead since they started overusing CGI and shilling out hardcore. Again, as a vet player, I LIKE the “Friend & Foe” system as I’ve always wanted to show off my customization in it’s full glory in team games because I’m not a FFA player.
“DURR COD DURR COD DURR COD” Leave this back in 2007, bro. You’re probably the same people that also called Titanfall a COD ripoff. You were wrong then and you’re wrong now. Also, piece of advice. Comparing one thing to another thing is an easy way to hate everything. I genuinely pity those of you who can’t help yourselves and despise every new release because devs inevitably take inspiration from popular releases and other titles. That level of cynicism is obnoxious and I can’t imagine it makes for long lasting friendships.
“GRR BATTLE PASS BAD. GRR FORTNITE FORTNITE FORTNITE.” I’m not a fan of the system either, but I’m also not going to scoff at a system done right. Having BPs permanently once you buy them is great, Diabotical does it, and I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into that game, meanwhile Quake Champions uses the standard BP system and despite me liking that game more I play it way less. MCC also uses a BP that comes with the game, and so does Gears 5, but you have to PAY for those games while Infinite’s MP is F2P. For a F2P BP, it’s reasonable, and isn’t required if you’re a purist who is only in it for the gameplay.
There’s more, but I’ve mostly said what I want to say. If you don’t like the game once you’ve gotten your hands on it, that’s fine, but the overwhelming hate for the game without having even played it is annoying and needless. It’s free, you won’t lose anything if you just abandon all your preconceived notions and try the game out for yourself before forming an opinion. Just because something is in it that you don’t like doesn’t mean you wont enjoy it, and just because something you do like isn’t in it doesn’t mean it’s a bad game. You just put too much stock in your own beliefs about how the game should be and should instead judge things on their own merits.
