Addressing the elephant...

In the room or, should I say Sharquoi!! In the video at 57 seconds into it, looks to me what appears to be a Sharquoi. It’s grey, huge, massive claws and one ugly sob! It’s hard to make out when the frame is paused but to me it looks like a Sharquoi which I find odd that it would be one since this takes place on Alpha Halo along side of the original Halo: CE. Then again they were suppose to be in the first game, hmmmm.

Anyone else have a definitive answer to what this is? I came here figuring there would have been atleast a few threads on this already.

They’re Flood pure forms, as seen in Halo 3.

Its the arm of an Flood pureform.

Kind of curious how flood pure forms exist here. Nothing in the game or books showed or hinted at any proto-graveminds nearing gravemind form for pure form creation. How advanced was the flood takeover?

There’s some speculation that they may have broken out of/been released from a research facility à la Cold Storage.

Perhaps, but the flood at this point were only feral stage flood. Don’t think they have the know-how to free other flood forms. I suppose an ignorant squad of UNSC soldiers may have been responsible.

Yeah little known fact is that Keyes survived the initial flood attack, found another containment facility and broke into that one too before going down. :stuck_out_tongue:

The Flood doesn’t have to be intelligent to cause another breach in containment once they’re already running free. There’s also the possibility of Covenant forces stumbling upon it while looking for something else.

Quite true, though was the UNSC that allowed the flood to spread so badly on delta halo. Keys parking her ship directly over a flood landscape was not the wisest move. The Covenant at least only used dropships and dropods.

EDIT: I actually forgot we were talking about Halo Fireteam Raven… and we were talking about Halo 2.
Still, Pure Forms may be there for difficulty purposes. Cannonically, it’s impossible for Pure Forms to have been in Installation 04.

Wouldn’t say impossible, we saw in Halo Wars 2 had pure forms running around without an actual gravemind. However that proto-gravmind was on the cusp of becoming a gravemind so one could say that the pure forms were made early to act as bodyguards. Meanwhile with Alpha Halo, we’ve only seen two protos created, both wiped out by covenant special ops.

2? That’s news to me. Only heard of the Keyes Proto. However, that could be the reason why there’s Pure Forms.
Regarding Halo Wars 2… I agree, yes. After all, they managed to evolve despite their state. The new Abomination form being a direct evolution from the Juggernaut is a good proof.

Yes, there was one on the Infinite Succor during “The Last voyage of the Infinite Succor.” Flood left the ring and got to the ship to infect it. Vadumee and his team are sent in and the eventual battle at the end costs him two mandibles. Before the fight though he did talk to a proto-gravemind that had taken a san shyuum.

Oh, that one. Yes, I read it, got the novel =)

Ok, so, HiddenXperia recently released a video on the game, and he theorized that Alpha Halo could have some Pure Forms stored on it. Remember the Cold Storage map from Halo 3? It had a Pure Form Tank in a Tank. Alpha Halo could have done the same thing. Makes more sense, I guess.

While the Flood aren’t as intelligent during the feral stage as they later get, they’re still quite capable and could surely figure out how to release Flood forms kept in stasis.

Yea, have had time to think on it more and agree. Before was thinking would be difficult for them unless their host knew how to unlock or free other flood forms.

Rtas 'Vadumee obviously didn’t encounter Pure Forms on Alpha Halo based on his comment in Floodgate in Halo 3.
