As I’m sure everyone is aware, Halo 5: Guardians will feature a new PvPvE mode called “Warzone”. Moreover, Warzone will feature AI-controlled bosses (ranging from Covenant to Promethean, infantry to vehicular, “common” to “legendary”).
More to the point, I’m willing to speculate that additional bosses may be added post-launch, possibly being map-specific to the free DLC maps. So, does anyone have any ideas for for potential Warzone bosses? If so, please share!
Personally, I’d like to see either Ripa 'Moramee (the hulking, dual-wielding Arbiter from Halo Wars) or Tartarus (the last known Chieftain of the Brutes)… Heck, I’d love to see both of them!
I like the idea of a “King of the Castle” idea based on “Night on Bald Mountain” with having to climb a tall structure layered with increasingly difficult bosses and the sides get closer to each other/each layer is smaller… And there’s a BIG mean boss at the top.
The team that captures all “bases” opens a portal from all bases to the “final” boss that is still accessible via very long walks, long 'Hog rides and relatively short aerial vehicles. The enemy can access the portal in each base, the important thing is that the “homebase” of the team with the captured bases gets a portal, plus some other buff ;D
This is of course a super-boss where players are more content getting the win by defeating the most bosses on each level and killing the other team than choosing to team up to down the beast where the last shot landed gets the big V over all other actions. Of course, there are 2 achievements for doing this plus one bonus:
be in a match that downs the super-boss.
be on the team that downs the super-boss.
get LOTS of Req. Points.
… Likely candidate; a Guardian
And of course it will physically interfere with any player trying to climb or fly up the structure!

That sounds pretty cool actually, having a boss play a ore involved role in the setting. Makes me wonder if the objective portion of Warzone is the same for every map, given we’ve only seen “Escape from A.R.C.” so far. The imagery of Disney’s “Night on Bald Mountain” and how you described this idea somewhat reminded me of “Malus” from Shadow of the Colossus.
What exactly did you mean by “the enemy can access the portal in each base”? Were you referring to the “Mythic” boss (a Guardian or otherwise) sending AI through to attack the bases or the opposing Spartan team? Are there any ideas for smaller bosses to populate each level?
Warzone could reaaaaaaally end up being some next level multiplayer if 343 gets creative with bosses, some ideas
Full scale flood invasion - if war games really is a training simulation then it makes sense that the UNSC would be training their warriors to battle the flood in case they ever come back, and it would be cool if whichever team killed the most flood got the points for the boss
Scarab- would be insane competing against other players trying to take out a scarab first
Master chief - would be the hardest boss to take down in the game, hyper lethal, imagine playing a game of warzone then hearing that the chief is on the field and everyone in their head just says “sh*t”
All I hope is that 343 doesn’t go the destiny route and make each boss some random bullet sponge

I’d love to see a Flood-infested Warzone map, complete with the incubating pustules on the walls (imagine shooting one next to an opponent and watching the Infection Forms consume him). Maybe they could even infect fallen players’ corpses? Then there’s the massive window of opportunity for more unique forms, like the “pure” strains seen in Halo 3!
A Scarab could be an interesting addition, acting as part of the map itself and being a point of contention. Heck, it could even serve as a base instead of a boss (perhaps with bosses spawning on/near it) and fire on players of the opposing team.
Master Chief Petty Officer John-117… “-Yoink!-” indeed. I just wonder how that could work in combat. It would seem a little weird to me for him to take more damage than the average player (who has the same armor/shield strength). Kinda goes into your concerns about making each boss a bullet sponge.

For Chief I was thinking something along the lines of him having perfect aim even from long distance, maybe give him some advantages such as shield strength, speed, can’t see him coming on radar, one melee kills etc
Hell even for a joke 343 could make it so chief can standby you and kill you if he gets close haha
Im not really into the actual Halo lore beyond as much as others are but what if since its everything vs everything and you included ideas from halo wars and other previous game bosses, what if they included a prophet or even a rare scarce combat flood with improved armor. Maybe even Locke or chief themselves.

YES!
A prophet that would fly around and the only way to kill it is the same way you do in halo 2, board it and punch it to death
I’d say what some others are saying, a nice Warzone flood map. Instead of the players vs covenant ai and prometheans, on a certain map there can only be flood and they can actually infect you if you are killed too close to an infection form and look like how the flood spartans did in Halo 4 infection. So after you land in the pelicans your base is already cleared with some Marines and then at maybe 5 minutes in you hear on the coms “We have a flood outbreak! Try to survive while also taking out the enemy team!” And as flood see you they charge you relentlessly but will also attack the other team. And have a like a flood juggernaut as a boss that was scrapped from Halo 2 or something.
Really liking these ideas so far. Having a simulated Prophet of Regret in his Gravity Throne spawn in would be awesome, especially if we can board and punch that treacherous worm! Perhaps spawn a few Sangheili Honor Guards to assist him and essentially recreate the encounter from Halo 2.
The Sprint showed a boss that looked a lot like the Warden Enternal but with a different name. Wonder if he’ll show up in Warzone. And going off the idea of a Prophet, what if he had the ability to call down a cleansing beam like in Halo Wars?

The one with the hardlight shields revolving around him? At first, I assumed that to be the “Knight Strategos” (can’t remember the exact name, but the other larger Promethean besides the Marshal), but I’m not too sure anymore. Regardless, the boss seemed like an interesting contender.

It was not a Knight. It had the Warden’s body and everything. Even the big sword. I’ll try to find the name and the video it’s in.
EDT: Found him and yes it had the hardlight shields His name was Condycept - Digital Exarch
Found it on episode one at 7:07
Now what if Flood spores reanimate our fallen bodies in all of this mess while we’re at it? It’s a controlled feature where bodies eventually do disappear and the spores are limited to Infection form and Growth Pod releases… But certain key rooms can be claustrophobic and contain lots of potential spores as to promote combat form creation
Of course Prometheans and Covenant might provide both spores and bodies, former and latter, if not controlled either
MUST hunt the Promies to limit spore release. MUST contain the Elites that are converted to combat forms… May or may not shoot the enemy because the Gravemind is the real threat.
