Adding weapon names to HUD

343i should update the HUD in game to display the name of the weapon you are holding. Yes, we all know what a Hydra is or what an Assault Rifle is, I know this. However, I may not know the difference between what the EndGame and Spartans Lance is by looks alone if I spawn in a random Req. Also, with the pending addition of Super Fiesta (fiesta with REQs), I think it is even more important that there is a spot on the HUD that displays the name of the gun you are using.
IMO, the title of the gun currently equipped could simply be listed below the game score in the bottom right. Another option is to put it in the top right with the ammo count. Or just in the top left where there is currently nothing, but that would feel out of place I think.

What do you think?

I don’t feel as this is super important because typically they are just buffed so not all that important but would be a nice addition.

I kind of agree with this addition. Last night I spawned a random weapon req, nothing too crazy.

it was a plasma pistol variant that has the imploding black hole feature. Needless to say I didn’t realize, and killed myself.

I don’t know personally I have all the weapons memorized down to look, what they do and the name, and I’ve had them down easy from within a month of playing, I don’t think a name on the screen would help as much as knowing that

level 2 unsc weapons have stripes level 3s are white with the same stripes
level 2 Promethean weapons have orange stripes level 3 has green and orange stripes
level 2 covs are either purple with a white mark or yellow with a red mark and level 3 is basically all white or basically all red with a yellow or white mark
Ravening sliver is dark blueish purple, vorpal talon is basically red kind of hard not to tell
Grinder is white, Corpse maker is red, Tarts is orange with buffs really hard not to tell again

I second this, its something ive often found frustrating. If you spawn a hammer in a random req pack for instance there’s no way of knowing what variant your getting. You’d use a regular hammer completely different to a Corpsmaker or a Grinder. There are a few Reqs where I think you need to know hat your wielding in order to use it correctly to its full potential.

i agree with most of you above… It seems like it would have been SUPER useful with super fiesta this week. Especially for those that dont normally play warzone.

So Im going to assume I should just keep my “I know all the REQ varients just by looking at them” mouth shut then.

I agree with you, and will add if it makes you glow it’s good. Go forth and slay.

It really isn’t that hard to learn what they look like. Spitfire looks different from Void’s Tear. I don’t want 343 wasting time on something so meaningless when there is such they already need to do or fix. This randomness literally only applies to one gametype so its not worth the effort.

YES. The glow shall light the way!

This would be very helpful if they are going to keep fiesta around

i agree, this should happen as you only know what type of weapon when you are picking up a dropped weapon from the floor, it would be nice when switching weapons to find out which type i have and if i am using a legendary item.

exactly! i know some people on the thread are not nice people saying they know all things halo 5, but some of us dont take the time to memorize the details of every single one of the 80 weapons in the game. Just a title would be nice on the HUD. It shouldnt be that hard

** denotes edit for fear of receiving an unjust ban.

That’s honestly a good idea for Warzone and Super Fiesta! I know I certainly get confused at first with all the different weapon variations.

Would be useful, but not a deal breaker.

Yeah, I’ve gotten to the point where I can identify the variant and what it does by its color. Is that a bad thing?

it is definitely a “quality of life” change

I would love to get to know them by seeing them, in due time, in due time

This definitely would have been useful during super fiesta because that was the first time I have ever used any of those weapons but I still think it would be a great addition.

Agreed. In super fiesta it’s sometimes hard to tell what I have.
