I struggle to see a world in where both exist at the same time and it doesn’t seem likely that 343 would just abandon the drop wall. You would you would also have to decide if you wanted the bubble shield durability to behave like the H3 equipment or the Reach armor ability because an invincible bubble shield would feel out of place in infinite.
I feel it is more likely that they just rebalance the drop wall because I don’t see where the bubble shield gets inserted into the sandbox.
Exactly. The bubble shield is a defensive tool and the drop wall is offensive. I think people are using it wrong, but if the majority of players are having an issue then it’s something 343 should definitely review.
I would like to see the bubble shield with the drop walls characteristics where you can shoot parts of it out. Think that would be very fun.
The drop wall is okay for stopping explosive damage, but found it was pretty useless overall and I always wanted top drop it for something else. No pun intended.
I 100% think the bubble shield should replace the drop shield…
There seems to be some broad opinion that the bubble shield was overpowered for some reason, which I just don’t understand. The bubble shield didn’t put you at much more of an advantage than the people outside of the shield, and it could be easily countered. I loved when players threw down a bubble and I had a power drain that I could toss at the base of the shield which pushes the shield away. Always took people by surprise. It was a useful tool to help traverse open areas, and gave strength to close-range weapons.
They’d have to make the drop be less frequent than the drop shield currently is… make it more in line with how often the H3 bubble spawned. Maybe drop the live time of the shield from 20 seconds to 10-15 seconds if you want. The drop shield is utterly useless… I’d rather have something in the game that is useful and fun.
The concept of the bubble shield was always cool but it always was sort of cheap to a degree imo. I think the drop wall is a good balance between a deploayble cover but something that isn’t to small it becomes useless. I think the health for the wall needs to be buffed a bit but I think it could fill enough of a role that the bubble shield wouldn’t need to return. If it does come back though I sort of hope it’s an in between the H3 bubble shield and the drop shield from Reach where it’s not invincible though make it better than what Reach had.
You know, as iconic as bubble shield is I think I prefer drop wall for now. It provides an interesting function and does not just stop gunplay. It just gives the user a slight edge instead of completely halting the fight like bubble. If they wanted to add bubble to just campaign that would be pretty tight. But I don’t really want to see it in multiplayer.
Yeah I’d like to see the bubble shield back. I don’t imagine they’ll get rid of the drop wall, but considering they just stated in the flight feedback overview that they think the speed and effectiveness of the drop wall is perfect (which it’s definitely not) then I’d like to see the bubble shield back.
Did you play the flight? You act like vehicle were running around mowing down everything in sight. Actually, they would rarely get more than a few kills before blowing up or getting grapplejacked.
I have no idea, maybe you’re right. I’m down for both.
I can see there being 1 that only protects one side of you but you can shoot through it, and another that protects you from all sides but you can’t shoot.
Halo 3 had both the bubble shield and the deployable cover, which is basically the same concept except the deployable cover didn’t break as easily as the drop wall, and was a bit smaller.
I never minded it in H3, but then again I’m not the biggest fan of H3’s MP so maybe other people had a problem with it that I don’t know of.
I’d love them to add in Halo 3’s. It’s so fun. The game of chicken you and your enemy play, walking in and out, meleeing, trying to gain control. Very fun to play with and against.
I’d be surprised if 343 isn’t planning on adding more equipment as time goes on. A lot of people are forgetting they want this game to last 10 years. You don’t do that by only adding multiplayer maps and armor. Chances are good they have at least a rough idea of what they want to add to the game over the next 3 years.
