Adding the brute shot, the mechanics of it

I have a rough idea of how the brute shot would work coming back, it would have a one hit melee death and not range and launch when melee ,also I think the shots should bounce like the gungoose bullets but not as damaging, bouncing up to 4 times until it hits a target, also should have 6 bullets

just trying to make it diffrent to the plasma caster

Bouncing 4 times?! That’s ridiculous. The great thing about the one bounce in the past was that you could accurately decide where your shots went. With 4 bounces, you have absolutely no control over your shots at all.

So basically make it shoot one round that bounces like the oni gungoose?

I reckon the bayonet on the back of it would do more than a normal punch, but not OHKO them. Or if it does it would have no lunge at all. But still if they did add that they would have all of my yes

A one punch?! It’s a giant blade, one hit ok, but with no lunge

The thing is, regular melee is two hits to kill. If the Brute Shot does more damage than a regular melee, but doesn’t kill in one hit, then it’s still the same as regular melee due to killing in two hits. It would be nice to have the blade do more damage, but not be a one-hit melee, but functionally it’s not all that possible in regular multiplayer.

It should have some of the same mechanics as the fuel rod: a direct hit is an instant kill but 2 shots around them would kill. It should bounce once unless it’s right next to an enemy. I think the melee should lunge (we have both the energy bayonet and knight blade as one hit kills and they’re LOADOUT weapons that lunge). Also, the Spartan charge would be a one hit kill if you are wielding it. I’m thinking it is a mythic legendary weapon with increased health. Would this be good?

Why not have the regular Brute Shot simply have more lunge, but still is a 2-hit kill, but then have variants that are more rare? We could have a Mythic variant that has a 1-hit kill melee with more lunge range, gives more health/an overshield and perhaps shoots sub munition rounds that have extra explosions?

Well I mean there is huge blade on the end…

I like the idea of variants.

Mythic Legendary: shoots a lot faster and the grenades don’t drop and are much more powerful. You’re also given extra a health buff. (It’s kinda like the SPNKr prime)

Ultra rare: locks on to vehicles and releases tracking submunitions on detonation.

Rare: brute shot with 10 grenades per magazine, faster fire-rate, faster reload time, and faster equip time.

Rare: basic brute shot. 6 grenades and a one-hit melee.

How are these?

Sounds fantastic to me! Those variants seem pretty reasonable and interesting.

It’s not a knife, it’s an energy bayonet. In other words, a small Energy Sword.

Yes but what ever it is… Your saying that it will change the game mechanics but there is a one hit melee in a freaking load out!, I’m sure putting a one hit melee on a brute shot would change the game that much haha

How about making it like it was in halo 3, I slaughtered with it there. Maybe up the damage from a 4 shot kill to a 3 shot kill (direct hits), have the melee like it was in H3 too where one shot and then melee killed. have a nice knockback effect as well so you can confuse opponents.

Could make the Tier 2 Brute shot have a faster fire rate, larger blast radius, slightly increased damage against vehicles.
Tier 3 the grenades could cause mini vortexs like the tier 3 grav hammer and Voids Tear.
Mythic Tier the blade could look like an energy blade, instant kill with melee, grenades similar to the tier 2 brute shot and have increased jump height/movement speed
