Adding roles (sort of like BF) In the ranks of H4

Note: It may not make sense. I made this months ago and finally posting this.

A downfall of Reach was its ranking system. It rewarded players for doing literally nothing and there was no trueskill whatsoever.

In this thread, I hope to prevent this from happening but still using Reach’s ranking system revamped by including an overall ranking and a playlist ranking.

> Overall Ranking

Just like I stated above, the overall ranking will be exactly like Reach’s. You will earn cR to use to buy armor and to help rank up. The medals you earn and the way you play will affect the total amount of cR you will earn at the end of each game, but another thing that will affect the way you rank up overall are roles.

When I say roles, I don’t mean Assault, Medic, Engineer, and Recon like in Battlefield where you get different equipment or weapons. I mean you get the same starts as everyone else, but the way you play will affect you cR total.

When you load up matchmaking for the first time, a notice will pop up asking you what you are when you play:

  1. Slayer-You kill the opposing team for cR
  2. Objective-Capture the Flag or Detonate the Bomb. Whatever you do will earn you cR
  3. Support-You finishing up a kill or getting an assist helps your cR total

I am open for any more roles that can be added

If you do what your role requires you to do you can rank up faster. Doing stuff that isn’t in your role still helps you, but not as much. So choose carefully, you can’t just pick one and choose another one the next day. You will have to reach a quota for you to change the role you play.

> Separate Playlist Ranking

I think a 1-50 or even a 1-100 trueskill ranking system should be in at least half if not all playlists. We only saw it in Reach with arena and it was really flawed.

It worked great in Halo 3 and it can work in Halo 4.

However, it needs to be tweaked so your ranking is not affected by derankers and boosters.

Trueskill needs to focus more on the player’s individual skill than teamwork. That was not there in Halo 3 so it was easy for derankers to get in your games and ruin your game.

What do you think?

Why are intelligent discussions always the ones being ignored by the community?

The thing is that players in halo cannot choose a spesific class to play as. A player plays based on the situation he or she is in. I do not think this would fit very well in halo.

Maybe I should have reworded the title?

> Maybe I should have reworded the title?

I don’t mean for this to be taken in the wrong way, but when you mention other games I think it puts people off reading the post.

Good idea but like the other guy said, Halo is a game were you play a certain way depending on the situation your placed in. but again good idea.
