I have a question. Does anybody think that there will be and can be a higher population cap from 120 to at least 300? I feel like it would make the game more fun and exciting. I personally like the idea of having more units and it would add to the chaos of the game. It’s not cool for like big units, such as the Cóndor, Scarabs, Kodiak’s, Tanks etc to take so much population cap and all of that. Another thing, if I could get no B.S assessments, the Covenant’s special powers are unreal. They are out of line. I don’t understand how they nerfed the UNSC, but not nerf the Covenant’s grunts, the special beams and rays, oh my god they are unreal or Banshees since people all they like to do with them is spam attack with Banshees and Grunts in the very beginning. It’s very unbalanced, so at least add population cap. Raise it to 300 or something. It would make the chaos even better!
The whole game is balanced around the unit cap being what it is, not so much a technical limitation (though I’d assume a 3 V 3 match with more than double the cap would cause issues on the Xbox at least). Halo Wars 1 had a much lower cap (about half) while many units cost less cap so the army sizes are effectively about the same. With this in mind a higher population cap would likely just mean a bit more fine-tuning on that cost between units.
I think it is fine as it is, but I am not opposed to the idea. Maybe it can be its own mode, where the cap is much larger. That would be interesting to see.
I wonder if the game could actually handle all those units being active at once. Can you imagine a 3v3 full pop cap? That’d be well over two to three hundred units, maybe even more unless everyone went condors, Scarabs, Sentinel Retrievers, or Vultures.
Because think about it, if we made pop cap YapYap Peon squads that would be 150 units per person, times that by 6 and that would be 750 units active at any given time. That’s a lot of units…

It is also what I thought, but ultimately left it out of my post. I was thinking in the thousands. I know that would be utter chaos, just let’s pray the game can handle it.

Would be cool but I think my Xbox might explode first.

I remember Warcraft 3 having an issue where, if you put in too many units in a custom map, the basic unit pathfinding would break. Like I said, games are designed about core considerations like this, and there is really no reason to design stuff like that to handle several times more than would be expected. Especially not keeping in mind the limitations of a console.
