Add Voting Back

I don’t think I’ve ever had a map repeat before. But I’d be ok with all maps weighed evenly.

I feel like if voting in its entirety was brought back, it could possibly lead to just a few maps being played over and over. I forget if 3/Reach had this kind of problem (I don’t think it did, but please confirm). I do support a kind of Veto system, which could help people avoid some of the less fun maps to play. Maybe like one veto per pre-match.

Map appearances could use some balancing, but I abhor the notion of voting returning. Voting was especially terrible for cross-game playlists, because it ensured pretty much only H3 got chosen, and if another Halo got chosen people just quit. Vetoing is a bit better, but in past Halos it seemed like any time a game I actually wanted to play came up, it would just get vetoed most of the time. Current system is the best. Not perfect, but helps ensure I can play the games I’d like.

jeah current system at least i get to see the whope map and mode pool. the popular maps and modes a great , but i dont want to play only thoseall the time. back then it felt like i were playing the same 4 maps over and over again. people now have more freedom with the match composer then ever , dont rob the variarity from us. ever since that also quiting is less popular. seems like most people after all welcome the variarity. they can add veto/voting for competetive matches but thats as far as i would go. to be honest competetive should stay random too , so people need to learn all the maps.

The problem is map weight. Certain maps have a higher chance of being played than others. Should be even all around

i agree, map weighting was done because people were worried that their favorite maps would be a rarity.

Better yet, they could add a map filter to the Composer. A checklist of all the maps available in each game; check the maps you like, and uncheck the maps you don’t.

That’ll only fragment the population even more unfortunately.

Not really as far as i understand.

Map weighting (at least in legacy) was done to ensure that the DLC maps would come up more often when all players had the DLC installed. Supposedly it was to prevent the entire community from becoming divided in matchmaking based on Map Packs, and was balanced around the assumption that not everyone would necessarily have those packs installed (as not having them would default the lobby back to non-DLC maps)

Now, supposedly 343 changed this with MCC to put only the most competitive/popular maps up front and center, but therin lies the problem; the old system required some form of skip if the weights weren’t equal.
