I’m sure some of us were really happy when 343 remastered the Elite models in H2A, and thought that maybe they’d finally gotten the hint about the player base liking other player models besides Spartans. I was disappointed but not surprised that only spartans were the only playable characters in Halo 5’s multiplayer. I seriously doubt bugging 343 will change this, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility (I think). There would have to be some serious design choices to be made should they ever implement Elites and other species into Halo 5 or in the next games.
Since 343 has opened up the Halo universe a bit, there are some things they could play around with when making new player models. First and foremost the Elites are first. Obviously they’re bigger and whatever (ever notice how Elites got taller in Halo 4?) People played as an Elite regardless so I don’t think this would bother them too much. They don’t seem to have a thruster pack of any sort. However the A.I. controlled Elites do like to sidestep quickly, so maybe something like that can be implemented into multiplayer for the Elites. They should have have all the armor types available to be unlocked and interchangeable just as the Spartan Armor.
So how about the Promethean soldiers? I think they’d fit right in if there was a minor adjustment, how they’d regen their “shields”. Perhaps they could have a cool armor repairing effect (or using the Halo 4 Knight shields).They have a teleport ability to replace the thruster boost. So if you really think about it the soldiers really aren’t too different for the other humanoid characters, a would would make a cool choice for players to play as. The only downside is there isn’t too much soldier varieties for customization.
However despite all this there are reason I doubt 343 will implement soldiers and elites (or any other species).
-They probably don’t care
-It would take time and money to program and animate it and etc.
-It would conflict with the Warzone setting
-Creating unique aspects to the models like their H.U.D.s would also be time consuming.
These are just my thoughts. Let me know what you think.

I think adding different playable races would conflict with the more competitive style 343 is going for with halo 5. In the earlier games I always thought that trying to get sniper headshots on elites was harder than on spartans.Different body types could mean that playing as different races would give advantages and disadvantages. What you were saying about the alternative the thruster pack just sounded like destiny to me. Some people may like that but its just not what halo is about to me.

How about all playable characters, I personally would love to play a Grunt, it might be more fun to fight a Hunter as a Hunter though (sounds like a great idea for teams double since Hunters travel in groups of 2), a battle of Scarabs would be a fun option too. What about a battle of Warden Eternals. It would be a lot more fun to play as everything else. Maybe an option like how Reach where you could select your preferred species when available; we do the same for the rest. We should also add a section to custom games that forces everyone to be one specific species as well as one that says what the allowed aliens are to play as and an option to say what isn’t allowed. Example being:
Allowed Species
Elites: Yes
Brutes: Yes
Grunts: No
Jackals: Yes
Hunters:No
etc.
Basically make it so some gamemodes allow the use of some but not all characters or maybe only allows certain characters. It shouldn’t be too hard to code the player to look like something else, I can see a lot of this only affecting custom games but It would still be fun to play as other things.
You might aswell make a brand new game and have it as a spin off for peeps that really want this and leave the main game unaffected by this stuff.
They proably didn’t add playable elites because they could not make a sprint animation. Then again they could just get rid of sprint

They should have elites but because of the elites having the advantage of height they should just not give them thrusters, because 1st off they’re elites (not spartans) and second because it evens them out. and also halo is supposed to be about it’s uiversal lore not only the multiplayer.

There is another thread for the playable Sangheili bit, so i will just step around that portion and go for the Playable Prometheans/Armigers.
Everything you proposed sounded rather good, it was just that thruster replacement idea that got to me. They would have to teleport differently as part of the thrusting out of the way is that they can still be damaged mid thrust. Since they are still present in the map, while an Armiger cannot be shot as they teleport. So possibly a different animation?

OP, playable prometheans wouldn’t really work unless you can play as the knights / Soldiers. Crawlers and other types in a PvP setting would be tricky to get right.

They should add EVADE LIKE FROM REACH < new animation

That’s the point. By removing thrusters you’ve eliminated 3 abilities which would have to be re worked and replaced. Adding more variables and affecting balance. I hope they never bring back elites.
