Add option to limit framerate in menus on PC

Can we get an option to limit framerate in the menus on PC? This should be a separate toggle like the “limit inactive frame rate” option currently. A fixed 30fps option would work, but a 30 or 60 fps toggle would be even better.

Have a 3080 and run things at Max settings with both minimum and maximum framerate set at 120fps. The GPU fans scream sitting in the menu. I always end up hitting the Windows button on the keyboard so Infinite is out of focus.

Strange, I have a 3090 and sit in the menus at 210-240fps and never have my fans screaming.

Not really screaming, but the fans are definitely running at the same speed of actually playing the game. GPU usage is very high.

If your fans are going full pelt at 120fps on a 3080 you need to be looking at your systems cooling overall & sorting out a custom fan curve for the 3080

Yeah. Limiting the frame rate would stop the card from trying to work as hard, they should definitely add that as a feature.

I agree - OP should check their own setup before just blaming the menus.

Don’t have this issue with a 1080, with a set fan-curve etc. Just throwing money at PC components just thinking that’s sufficient is typical in todays age, there are plenty of other factors to consider.

i think because from what i remember/was told the menu is loaded like in real gameplay so its in game rendered, which means it could have some weird issues with different spec machines

Try these settings by @ItzTheDay. I’ve been using them for months now and they work great.

What 3080 do you have? Fe or an AIB?

What case?

What kind of case fans? How are they controlled? Motherboard or PWM controller?

How many intake fans and exhaust fans?

Using an OC tool for your GPU?

Stock fan curve or custom?

What temp is your GPU hitting in game?

I totally agree with this - I have a 3070Ti and the GPU is utilized more in the menus than in the actual game. My fans are also doing the work in the menus.
I would ignore the comments about your PC setup - this is definitely a feature problem, this should be added to the game no doubt - other games have it after all.
Furthermore, this only happens to me on infinite specifically . All of my other games don’t have this problem and I have a brand new clean set up with 5 fans pushing air through it.
If there was an option to set the menus to 30-60FPS that would be spot on.

You’re asking to limit framerate on Infinite’s menus, I’m begging to uncap the framerate on Overwatch’s menus.

Kinda wild a middle ground solution isn’t standard fare in 2022.

Relax guys. My case and MSI Ventus 12GB 3080 are fine. The 3080 is undervolted and fans set a bit higher than stock to keep it on the cooler side.

Still, a 30 or 60fps cap would be a great feature!

Still missing some important info.

Well, what’s your fans set to? Sounds like its a you thing and not a game thing. I have a Strix 3080 and I run 121% power limit, 450watts with a mild OC core +120 mem +800 and my GPU temps are usually in the high 60’s to low 70’s and I have my fan curve so the fans will stay at 75% while gaming.

I spent a lot time yesterday testing out my current case (Corsair 4000D AF) because I’m moving everything into a HYTE Y60 and will be using different fans and a 360mm AIO.

You may want to do something similar if your fans are screaming, as you say.

I’d like to see this implemented on console as well. I play on a Series X set to 120 FPS. This is great for gameplay. However, in menus, 60 FPS looks so much better; The spartans in the lobby are higher-res and the customization menu looks gorgeous.
