In Halo 5 I loved the forge, but it was really annoying when I had a slight shift in connection and all my progress in this really cool map just went poof and I had to do it all over again. Also, if you could add more things to do if you either don’t want to, or can’t play online that would be great!
To be fair this was for the always online drm-box-1 that was rolled back after outrage and backlash (no thanks to the Don). But yeah Forge worked great in H3 and Reach, why did it have to be online again? And while you can do more with H5 forge than you could with Reach’s forge, Halo Reach still has the best forge mode.
It’s another example of 343i’s record of “one step forward, two steps back,” in terms of implementing game modes and features. Forge became more powerful in Halo 5, but weirdly also became less useful in a number of ways, including the on/offline restrictions.
Even though I hate Halo 5’s forge…yeh they need to make sure all future Halo games have offline forge. It’s just weird that Halo 5 forge on xbox is restricted to online only while it seems like Halo 5 forge on pc isn’t restricted to online.

Yeah, thanks to don who ruined the Xbox brand. The meme was "buy a 360"and we lost a lot of Xbox and Halo fans due to is disaster.
Hope Phil spencer makes the next gen offline so it gives players a chance to play halo without an Xbox live account and nit connected to internet, even forge

We can all hope, but if it goes streambox then Scarlet will make the DRM box look like a security system that doesn’t spy on you.
As much as I would love to see forge and other aspects of Halo playable offline, I think the industry is moving more towards an always online system.

I think so too. I know some fans want offline games or offline features, but I cannot remember the last time I played a game when not “connected”. Also, with some games like Gears 4 being in excess of 100gb with all DLC an online connection is a requirement.
Oh yeah, another thing! They should change how the map selector works, because it was super annoying when I have to scroll through tens of hundreds of other maps just to get to the empty one!
