I wonder if their plan for F2P was that through time events and ultimate rewards would give a decent amount of customization options. Because it seems like that might be the case, and I am noticing my customization options going up with time. But if that’s the case it doesn’t really give people much to work for the majority of the time, and it definitely doesn’t mesh with what they said about tons of free customization day one.
I hadn’t considered that actually. Assuming that’s the case it is still a very slow grind given its weekly nature, but I suppose it almost meets what they said in the multiplayer overview video when talking about cosmetics. If I recall they said something to the effect of “with the amount of customization available on day one it ensures that there will be millions of customizations available for Spartans.” Which didn’t quite pan out unfortunately.
You haven’t seen the new body armor the US military designed, specifically for women, have you. It’s contoured now to fit women better in the chest area. But that’s not relevant to this.
All I’m saying is it’s in the mid 2500’s in Halo. I’m sure they have armor custom fitted to the individual Spartan, if I’m not mistaken.
They’d have to I’d imagine, especially for the IV’s.
Yes it’s a chest plate. It’s not for people’s sexual satisfaction, its still somewhat bulky and still straight. There is no extra -Yoink!- shape or contour to the belly.
Victorian female armor was actually far more different than male and that was simply due to the hips as that’s how the weight was distributed across the body.
And yes non of this matters as they’re mech suits. And therefore dont need to be “female or male” styled. They’re functional based only.
And once again better armor customisation and other features are way before tighter armor or more female/male attributes in a mech suit
Women typically have smaller ribcages and wider hips. There is nothing sexual about that. And having armor that fits the frame just makes sense. But regardless, I think the most important thing here is the game used to have noticeable differences in body types. In particular, Reach did. Also, this game was marketed around customization. Marketed as is becoming our Spartans, and we were told its customization would rival Reach. Well, it doesn’t rival Reach. People have a right to voice their unhappiness at the current state of affairs.
Which is fine, but atm there are far greater issues especially customisation wise alone which really should be adjusted first.
Imo having a mech suit as a neutral gender fit is fine, only once the other issues are fixed is something like this can be added.
Call me old fashioned but the sexual look of a mech suit doesn’t matter to me, male or female. I just wanna unlock cool armor and not have to spend $1000+ to get all the armor, effects etc. we had in reach
No one is saying it’s the first thing that should be fixed. If 343 came out today and said that after forge, co-op, BTB, and other pressing issues were fixed that additional body types with armor that fits would be addressed, I would find that acceptable. I don’t find it acceptable they compared this games customization to Reach so much, didn’t give us armor that fits (like Reach had), and then tell us they have no plans to change it.
Also, I wouldn’t call the dimorphism old games had “sexual”. It’s just body types. People can make of it what they will. I just want them to have armor which fits, and have at least one noticeably smaller body type. I wouldn’t find it sexual, and I don’t care what they call it.
Didn’t 343 just lock a topic and commented that they have no plans in changing this? Time to move on now.
Some people don’t find that answer satisfaction. Also, they didn’t say they would never change it. Just that there are no current plans. Remember what Chief said, plans change, they always do. If there is a big enough cry for change, maybe we’ll see that happen. Maybe not. Either way, it doesn’t hurt for people to talk about it.
The main issue I have is people sexualize it and get so very weird over it. I see it in so many games where they always over sexualize things.
Admittedly halo is better as it’s not showing off the body like most games, but atm a neutral armor is fine to me. I dont like the creepiness that can come from sexualized things. Even if we dont see it that way others do and it’s the reason they want it.
It was cringe when a bunch of people was getting -Yoink!- and creepy over Cortana in halo 4 etc.
People are going to sexualize the Spartans in Infinite. I guarantee it. Especially with the cat ears. You may not like it, but it’s going to happen. They exaggerated features, regardless of what’s in the game. In past games the art way exaggerated the features. I don’t care for that, but honestly, what someone else does in their spare time doesn’t impact me unless they involve me directly. And that’s never happened regarding sexualization in past games. With Reach I felt so happy to finally be represented. That feeling never went away, regardless of how many posts people made with exaggerated art that I never bother to look at. I don’t see it as an issue. At least not one that is big enough to warrant denying people customization and representarion options they care about.
This is why we are here today having such a conversation because people like you made such comments about others over sexualizing things. It’s going to happen regaurdless of what the game is. That is just reality. They shouldn’t remove logic and reality just because someone’s veiws it in a certain way.
Well like I said, itd be okay with it but many, many more things need to be put first even just customisation things.
This is just on the far back burner. If it gets added that’s fine, I’m not one to really care for male/female in games and I get the option is good but it’s not “needed” unlike slot of the other things.
Nice extra, not needed though especially before other things
Cool you should read some of my other comments first.
That’s one of my points and not even my main one.
True. Not saying it’s your main point but 343 did read comments like that and taken them into consideration when making Halo infinite. Let’s not forget that gamergate happened. The movement is partly why things are like this today
Well everything should always be considered, I’m sure alot of people dont like how certain things are sexualized in games and even films.
I personally dont like the people that do that sorta thing and I’d never support and encourage it.
But I’m always for options, options are always good! (Hence why I’m for optional crossplay) but I want the other customisation things to be focused on first and the other issues at hand.
I just see this as an extra, a nice bonus but not necessary especially atm that’s all. Just voicing my opinion for others and 343 is all
It’s not just a nice bonus to people who don’t feel represented by the game though. It’s pretty important. And that’s a lot of people based on the number of these threads. And they can’t be blamed considering the marketing of becoming your Spartan.
There are different body types that anyone can choose from.
That’s very intentional design and there are currently no plans to change that.
