As much as I want the Chief to be in Super Smash Bros., it is unlikely to happen. As a forum monitor once said on the subject, every character in the roster is from a series that has been on a Nintendo platform at least once. I reckon Halo would have to be ported to or released on the Switch before Nintendo even considered adding the Chief to the roster.

Joanna Dark, however, debuted on the Nintendo 64 with Banjo-Kazooie. Hopefully the new Perfect Dark will be successful, but by the time it is even close to release, SSB might not be getting any new additions.
On another topic, we totally need both the N64 Banjo-Kazooie games remade for Xbox Series X and it needs to be named “The Banjo Kazoollection”.

I imagine Nintendo cares… It’s not Microsoft’s call. Smash is Nintendo’s IP, so it’s up to them.
And I gotta be honest, what would make me wayyy happier would be Infinite releasing. At this point, if I found out Microsoft was putting in a bunch of work to add MC to Smash while simultaneously having to push back the release date of Infinite, I’d be pissed.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but the only work from Microsoft regarding adding the Chief to Smash would be talks between them and Nintendo/the Smash development team. All the programming and coding and such is done entirely by the Smash developers. Now, I highly doubt Microsoft are so involved in Halo Infinite’s development that it would be slowed down significantly if they were busy discussing getting Chief in Super Smash Brothers.
Isn’t that 343’s job? Microsoft are only the publisher, after all.

This so much. Something akin to this will most definitely come down the road, I’d even expect something like this in aprox 3-4 years.
