Add Hyper-Lethal Rank above onyx for top players

I think there should be some rank above onyx that a limited number of the top players can achieve, similar to predator in apex. It could be called hyper-lethal like I proposed here, or something else like master. Obviously I will never achieve this level of ranking, but I think it would be cool for the top players to have a separate rank to strive for outside of onyx. It could also help them with getting into matches with people of similar skill level.

Or ‘champ’ … like Halo does?

I know its been in past games, but I haven’t seen it anywhere in this game. As far as I’m aware onyx just keeps going up.

Correct - it’s not in infinite and it was in previous ones and it should be in infinite

But if we’re talking names then… champ

The name is just semantics really, I don’t mind it being called whatever.

I just think the division should come back as a whole to separate top players from the rest of us.

Oh so you mean champoin ranks like in halo 5

The Game needs a champion rank. Something to show off on your profile even between seasons that you hit this. Maybe you could engrave it onto your armour even.

The fact that you can’t put your current rank on your armor seems like a missed opportunity already.

Whatever makes you feel like your -Yoink!- is big enough.

They had Champion rank in Halo 5 for the top 200 players in a ranked list. My guess is that they removed it here because they knew it would just incentivize more cheating in Infinite.

Just keep in mind that the MMR becomes less accurate the higher it gets.

To rank and sort everyone accurately the system would need everyone to play each other regularly… almost tournament style… and this doesn’t happen. Time zones and such.

Players at 1900 in different regions aren’t the same.

I think this is the reason why they dropped the #200 / Champ status. It’s just not accurate.

Of course it doesn’t stop 343 adding an Elite tier of some sort. But it couldn’t be too high. And then of course you could argue that the actual CSR number shown is the status reward?

Seriously? That’s your outlook on all this? Thanks for the input mate

Your welcome mate

Any time :+1:

Me and a buddy playing halo 5 LATE at night one evening on a weekday were matched into a game with a Champion in Arena Slayer(Ranked Slayer), he absolutely destroyed our entire team.

It was so friggin impressive, we didn’t even get mad about it. We started ganging up on the guy, ignoring weapon spawns and power-ups, just to see what the guy would do.

It was amazing. We still talk about that guy from time to time.

I fully support bringing back the Champion Rank.

Hyper lethal should be reserved for the top 10…. maybe 20 in the world

I actually think rebranding Champ rank as ‘Hyper-Lethal’ would make a lot of sense for the top 200 players (if champ designation returns).

Since Master Chief and Noble 6 were thet only designated “Hyper Lethal” Spartans, it would be a cool lore title to give the top ranked people’s.

This is really accurate. They just don’t go up against each other enough. If there was a means of making them play each other and avoid playing people too far below them, I imagine all that would do is give them a really long MM time and they’d feel discouraged to play from that. If the circumstances are right they probably do go up against their peers, but more often than not they probably don’t I imagine.

Yep. There is no way in the world the system can click it’s fingers and say these are the best 200 players in the world… let alone sort / rank them in order.

It’s just guessing at that point.

While the name is whatever, it may rub people off the wrong way.
Hyper-Lethal categorization in the lore is reserved only for Spartans with extremely deadly proficiency and combat record, only which 2 in history exist.

Abit of a spit in the face if your “Hyper-Lethal” rank is filled with people using hacks.

… you mean the system that already existed in H5 doesn’t work?
