Add dmr from reach, halo infinite smg and halo 3 plasma rifle

These weapons need to return on halo infinite

Probably not the most popular weapon but I’d like to see the Sticky Detonator return in Infinite, I have some fond memories using it in Halo 4.

I wrote halo infinite smg but i mean halo 5 smg

I don’t see where the DMR would fit in the sandbox when we now have the commando. All the DMR did in 4 and 5 was compete with the BR and though I liked it, it was a redundancy.

You don’t necessarily have a wrong perspective of the situation, but we do have to ask, “do most casual players care about weapon redundancy?”

Now, I know the flood of comments will say “Yes,” but I would argue that for many generations this wasn’t on the front lines of most people’s complaints of Halo.

We went through Halo1, Halo2, Halo3/ODST Halo Reach, Halo 4, and Halo 5 with many of these weapons and the redundancies therof, and people became very attached to them as part of the core experience.

There were always people willing to bring up the issue of redundancy in the sandbox, but it seemed like the majority of people didn’t care enough to blow up the issue until late Halo 5, and Halo Infinite.

The players that didn’t complain about it, or actually encurged the inclusion of, say, Covanent equivalents to UNSC weapons, found it jarring to see so many guns on the chopping block, when they themselves had no complaints about it.

There’s also the audience who liked particular weapons as they were, or enjoyed them in an artistic way, such as Screenshots or Machinimas.

I’m not saying that it is wrong to consider weapon redundancy, but I will say, in my experience, it does feel like a lot of the sandbox was butchered for the sake of a few radically different weapons. Is my perspective wrong? No, because I’m not a competitive player. Is your perspective wrong? No, because you probably think more competitively (or maybe you don’t, but for the sake of this discussion we’ll go with it ^_^)

But at any rate, we just need to ask, “Who’s this sandbox being built for?” That will give us a clear idea what it will look like at the end of the day.

Nah you’re spot on, the sticky detonator was the best weapon in H4.

I want the DMR so bad. That and the Carbine.

I agree about the weapon variety, cause fiesta kinda of got boring after having Halo 5’s fiesta. I’d like Infinite to have a bigger sandbox, especially since we’ve seen what 343 can do with Req weapon variants.

As for the DMR, I could care less if it came back. The bloom in Reach made that DMR rng based, and 4/5 were both spammable. I’d rather the BR have an alt fire mode that’s single shot, like the one in the original Halo 2 gameplay demo/the marines at the end of Halo 3.

Nah. Between the Stalker and the BR the DMR would just be redundant.

Between the AR and the Bulldog the SMG would be redundant.

If they just buff the semi-auto function of the Plasma Pistol a bit the Plasma Rifle would be redundant (and that’s a buff I see coming a mile away, there’s no reason it should be weaker than it is in Reach and 4)

All 3 of these weapons would just fill the exact same role as something else in the game. And it would be a lot better to get some of the more unique weapons from across the franchise back.

The Sticky Detonator, Flamethrower, a CE style Fuel Rod (mortar launcher) etc. We need weapons that don’t feel like other weapons that are already in the sandbox.
