Add community maps onto unranked playlists?

I read the community blurb where they suggest a few maps that some folk have made and then provide advice on how to get them for my own custom games. Which is neat and awesome of course.

The problem is that its just too much of an inconvenience to do that and it presumes I’ll have 16 people willing to play sandtrap remake big team battle. Since theres no matchmaking for custom games this is a huge problem. They’ve added a great tool in forge that should mean the game has a lot of user generated content but have essentially walled that off from casual usage.

A great example off the top of my head of how they should do this is Company of Heroes 2. There, they regularly add community made maps into standard matchmaking and allow you to search custom games. If the host has a modded map, everybody downloads that map and we get straight into the game from the lobby. Theres also a workshop area on steam where you can browse community made maps and download them. This is much easier than searching a persons name, friending them and accessing their fileshare to download a forge map which I pretty much can’t use without a dedicated Spartan company.

Personally I think that’s how forge and community maps should work. Vette the best maps to go onto unranked playlists, add some sort of forge workshop where people and upload and download their best maps, then add the ability to host and allow matchmaking in the custom games.

That would be great. I remeber reach had a playlist that was 100% community forge maps. They did it for btb too.
