Add classic shotgun&magnum to Halo infinite launch

Dear 343, please add the classic shotgun and magnum too Halo infinite at launch.

I’m pretty sure we all of us OG Halo fans agree that the sidekick and the bulldog don’t look halo, I’m all for new weapons (I mean who doesn’t) and the models look cool, I just wouldn’t mind if they were in the game along side the classic shotgun and magnum, and I know they said that they will add them in the future, but still they also said that halo infinite is a return to a more classic art style and here they are just replacing the classic shotgun and magnum.

I really hope that they acknowledge this and same with all our concerns about Halo infinite, and I know that they just answer some of them, is just I don’t want to be disappointed when it comes out and I think I can say that for all of us.

There may be a thread about this out there… lol. But yes I agree they MUST be added to the game.

The shotty and magnum are my brothers two favorite weapons. When he hears they got booted…well, I’ll just try not to be around when that happens. As for me, the shotgun is easily the best close up firearm in the franchise. As for the magnum, well, it CAN be useful if it’s the variant with the zoom ability. If not, it’s totally useless. But needless to say I’ll miss them both if there really and truly gone.

More and more any excitement for the launch is just being sucked away… too many things worry me for me to maintain optimism.

Having them change those 2 classic weapons has me worried about things like the Spankr and such like halo 5 all over again.

Agreed. Even if they pull another spnkr situation like they did with Halo 5, it’ll probably just be added to the multiplayer and forever be missing from campaign, like Halo 5.
Plus, we’re returning to a more classic art style but then we’re removing the classic Halo Magnum? Huh? What? Come again? I beg your pardon? Excuse me?
I politely accepted the ugly Reach AR because I have manners and everyone else seemed to like it, so whatever (seriously, 343’s ARs in Halo 4, 5, CEA, & H2A are incredible. Why the one from Reach? Gross.) I never once even complained about the redesign of the shotgun in Halo 4 or Halo 5.
But to remove the Magnum and shotgun altogether? In Halo? That’s too far. I will raise a stink about that.
Just have the new shotgun AND the old. It’s a big open world sandbox, right?

Removing an iconic weapon from such a game, the size it is…

I don’t have anymore expectations, it’s all just speculation of what’s next to teach 343, again?

don’t get me wrong these guys are trying their best, but having the M90 C.A.W.S. Shotgun & M6 Magnum removed is only gonna worsen hope for the game.

Campaign is my biggest concern as well. Even if the weapons are added in multiplayer, they won’t be for campaign if Halo 5 is any indication.

I think the new Sidekick pistol needs some lights and maybe a larger trigger guard to make it more Halo-esque. Maybe look at the Halo 4/5 pistol (not the gunfighter variant) for some ideas of what I mean if they don’t want to use Bungies design.
That said, the pistol has been very different in each Halo game, Halo CE had a pistol so powerful there was no reason to swap it out, 2 nerfed it a lot and changed the design, 3 brought back the classic design somewhat but no zoom, Reach’s pistol was ruined by bloom (in my opinion) so I get why they may have gone for a new pistol but still would be nice to have at least two variants / skins even if they perform similarly.

As for the shotgun, even Halo 4/5 whilst I wasn’t the biggest fan of the design to say the least and it did look a little bit like the ship Infinity on the side lol, my biggest gripe with Infinite’s shotgun is that it is mechanically different to every shotgun in every single Halo game so far, chiefly changing from loading the individual shells etc to a drum magazine. The tactical shotgun has been a staple of the franchise for almost 20 years.

For campaign, I believe some Halo 5 REQ variants (I actually really liked them) were in campaign and I think it adds variety as well as sort of being a little easter egg. If Infinite’s world is as large as they are making it out to be, I can’t think how more weapons in a campaign of that scale would be a detriment to design.

To conclude, I can get behind the new pistol if they make some changes to the design like lights etc or something rather than making it look like a Glock or smtg, especially as the battle rifle is in the game so we don’t need a CE level pistol. However, I would like the original shotgun to be an alternative to the Bulldog. Even in their blog post, they said the weapons perform differently to what we might expect from the originals so they definitely can perform slightly different roles or have different uses. I know some people may say that too many weapons of the same type clutters the sandbox but as OP said, more weapons are welcome and add variety as long as they don’t replace old ones. It’s not like there are going to be 5 different pistols spawning on the same multiplayer map.

At the very least, I hope if they aren’t in at launch, when they are added in the game (for free, don’t even think of making them microtransactions), they are added in campaign as well.

I have to agree with these people. I’ve grown up with halo. It’s been a part of me my whole life, and as much as i like seeing new designs in the halo series they shouldn’t undermine and replace what came before. While I love these new designs they should be weapon variants and not replacements.

I have to admit, it’s got me concerned at this point. Maybe that’s should delay it for a month or two.

Halo three was the last game in the series with a decent AR. ALL the new ones stink. But, your right about the shotgun. It looks so fat in the new ones.

True, though I feel they worded their post in a way to say that they will add the original versions of the Halo shotgun and pistol/magnum. The new magnum looks so generic and modern day. I prefer the futuristic feel of the CE pistol and H2 magnum.

I’m HOPING that since it’s an open world game, the arsenal will be larger than previous games. HOPEFULLY it’ll have multiple different human pistols and shotguns, the demo kinda hinted at it with the odd inclusion of the weapon category text at the pickup prompt.

Also HOPING the MA5D is in as well, I HATE the Reach styled AR and I finally saw the AR PERFECTED in H5, when you hit perfection for an assault rifle why do you not keep it around?

I just mean by the look of them. All the assault rifles 343 have done so far have looked like Assault Rifles. It’s one of the few things they never radically changed, in terms of appearance compared to their classic counterparts. Of all the major art style changes they did to the weapons, armors, vehicles, aliens, etc; the AR still looked like an AR.
The Reach AR was too much of a departure design wise. I didn’t care for it. I see the Reach AR the same way many people see the Halo 4 Battle Rifle.
