Add a penalty for f***ing leaving games.

Seriously the amount of people that leave games because they don’t like the map or gamemode is making the whole matchmaking issue worse. People dont care though because they will just leave and immediately queue up. After the server issues are resolved you seriously need to add an escalating time ban from matchmaking for leaving a game in progress. Maybe say a 5 minute lock out for the first offense, 15 for the second 30 for the third and so on. I remember why i started getting annoyed with halo in the first place since there was no penalty for leaving a game for w/e reason. It makes the game unfun for the remaining players.

I’m sure they will once they get things ironed out. I will confess to leaving matches when I’m outnumbered at the moment. Hate it when players leave at the map selection screen because they didn’t get what they voted for.

I’ve had plenty of games where I would love to have the guys getting 5 kills and literally 25 deaths to quit.

Yea I do to if there is a penalty for leaving but at the moment there’s not and they have a reason behind that. They can’t start penalising us until they have it running smoothly.

I just don’t get why people wait so long to get in a game to just leave. Also it sucks because the teams are always mismatched. I have yet to have a full team and am always one player short even when people don’t leave

5 minutes is literally nothing compared to a lot of games out there… Maybe allow 1 leave before the penalty but considering that you are ruining the play experience for the remaining players you deserve a punishment. But i guess i forgot this was the halo community, i remember when people -Yoinked!- about the leaver penalty in Reach since everyone thinks they shouldnt be punished and that rage quitting is a perfectly ok thing to do. I guess we should go back to halo 4 style matchmaking and just let people join mid game, that way people can rage quit all they want, ranked will be pointless and so will the matches

I doubt most people are leaving games on purpose, I know that my game has crashed a pretty good number of times, knocking me out of games. You need to redirect that anger at 343 for not delaying this mess of a game.

I am saying they need to do this after they fix the bugs, and you do realize that even if they delayed the game this would have most likely still happened there is no way to tell what will happen when -Yoink- goes live, you can test and do QA all you want but when you are doing something like the MCC that has never been done before you have no precedent to work off of, you have nothing to reference. The MCC is unique in the fact that it is quite literally a breakthrough experience from a technical standpoint.

Doesn’t make it right, nor is it something that should be allow and accepted… You want to rage quit? Then you should pay the penalty for screwing your team over and making the game an unfun experience for both teams.

Once these servers are fixed sure go ahead league of legends does it in the champion select so why not do it for map selection. But yeah as of right now if I’m 3vs5 on warlock and you’re on my team don’t be surprised to see me quit.

Honestly i am an avid League player so some of this idea comes from them, as well as from CS:GO which has a really steep penalty for ranked games.

I think I’ve come across only a single match where people hadn’t started quitting before the game starts and that was shortly after launch in CE. Every other time when people do quit it’s so far somehow miraculously always ended up with my team being short at least 1 or 2 players. For whatever reason quitting a match hasn’t even crossed my mind so far despite of all that. Guess I still have the old Halo 3 matchmaking mindset. And if it turns out there’s no point in even trying then I just mess around for the rest of the match beeping at enemy players on my Mongoose or whatever else I can think of.

I agree though. Would be nice to have proper fun matches sometime this year still.

I’m not sure all of the leaving is voluntary. I’ve only managed to get into 8 matches so far (though Waypoint inexplicably shows only 4). I’ve managed to get “disconnected from host” after the lobby had formed more times than actual matches. I’ve stopped attempting to do matchmaking because of that . . . and also because the games I have managed to get into were clearly P2P (not dedicated servers) and were extraordinarily laggy.

With the playlists already cut in half…if they vote for Ricochet…lmao, sorry but I’m not playing that trash. Once they have more playlists, I can just play the game type that I want and won’t quit. They are already forcing you to play the current set of playlists. Plus…people get kicked by the host. Thats uncontrollable on their part.

To be fair this is just typical of a vast number of halo gamers. I like you stay to the bitter end which I got punished for today -22 KD :frowning: the only thing that sprung to mind was that the user mentality is still the same and unless you’ve got a tight unit that you know won’t quit then we will have to face the inevitable pain that is uneven matches… Unless you’re in the rumble pit then its all cushty

Punishments for quitting creates an incentive for griefing as evident in the failed experiment that was Halo:Reach. Only thing that works is allowing people to join mid-match.

There will be a Penalty for leaving it’s called possible loss in rank once certain play lists become ranked that’s how we used to derank in H2 10 years ago on 3rd accounts to help friends level
