It’s a simple concept. Add a medal the player receives if they quit. If you quit, the announcer says “coward!” and the medal has the mark of shame on it.

I see what you mean by that, but for completionists the medal is gonna be a B I T C H to them to get, cos they either want to finish everything and get every medal at the, but lost xp or not complete everything and keep their xp. That medal could be flawed as people do lag out soemtimes and its not their fault.

Not sure if you meant in game or career xp? If you meant ingame, than that would be useless as they have already quit. If it is career xp, then its gonna be annoying if you are in a 6 vs 1 match of BTB (has happened to me, didnt quit though) and they are slaughtering you, then its not gonna be fair. I have a friend who got deranked like 10 times in Halo 3 cos he rage quit so much.
Maybe after a certain amount of quits the get a deduction of EXP because sometimes players leave games because of an emergency or accident.
itd be fun but then some people would hope to have more than some of their friends as a joke which could cause problems

perfect ! but only if it doesnt show up when someone dissconects. you can’t always control that.
Never give anything to a quitter, some will see a mark of shame medal as a reward and quit just for that reason. Just keep it simple and take something away from them, that’ll do a much better job at discouraging quitting, far greater than giving them a medal for it at least.

How about also having a filter option in MM so that when we search we don’t get matched with people with ‘X’ amount of medals (obviously needs to be high to differentiate those who lag out and those who just quit), that way those who want to just quit to annoy people will have a harder time finding a match.

Perhaps it can be implemented as something like Halo has always been. One mark of shame is a warning and will appear in the lobby (or somewhere else a bit less noticable to others and more noticable to the quitting player). Once you reach three marks you should be in a hazard zone where the consequences aren’t as large as banning the player, rather a credit handicap that limits the credit gain for the player to 1,000. And to get rid of the marks you must COMPLETE double the amount of games you quit. So to get rid of 3 you would need to complete 6 games. Just my two cents.

Just do what gears of war 2 did (every time you didn’t finish a game you started you lost 1,000 exp). That includes disconnects and lag outs. And to those who say they can’t control that they can get a better connection or router. Why should the people on your team be the only ones punished because of your rage quit or -Yoink- connection?
