Add 5 Minute Timer to Warzone

So I’m currently in my umpteenth match on Escape from ARC where Blue Team pushes Red Team to the Core and then proceeds to spawn kill everybody. Not a single person on Blue Team has even looked at the Core, let alone taken any shots at it. People have entered the Core with Energy Swords to spawn kill people at the back of the base and one guy has over 50 kills just murdering people in a Scorpion outside of the base. This is absolutely ridiculous, but I believe I have a solution.

I think Warzone should take a page from Warzone Assault and make it so that when you control all the bases the timer resets to 5 minutes. You now have 5 minutes to destroy the Core or lose the match. This will make it shorter so they can’t spend 20 minutes racking up kill points and give them a loss if they try it. Hopefully that would convince people to just complete the objective and win. That is the objective after all. If the other team, in this case Red Team, captures a base and pushes Blue out of the Core, then the timer can go back to what it was before. Or at least give you more than 5 minutes.

maybe 7 minutes,
I like it

As long as the timer goes back to counting up should the team manage to capture a base back I’m all for this idea.

This an awesome idea to deal with the spawn killing in Warzone.

I do not like this idea, not because spawn killing, but because I have been on a team that actually aims for the core, yet the other team resistance is strong, so even though they don’t capture a base, the defend their core really well, and it’s not until the last seconds that we get to destroy the core.

It would be pretty unfair that a team has like 800 points and the other team 500 and get pushed to their core, yet if the winning team don’t manage to destroy it they lose.

Well the timer is for the losing team, naturally.

What time were these matches? I want to look up the game and block the company that’s pulling this stuff. 343 should dissolve companies that are proven to do this multiple times.

OP said, and i quote:

And I’m pretty sure the team having to “destroy” the core is the team that’s winning

I don’t think that would be fair to the team that is winning. cause if the team has 900 points and the other has like 100 but the winning team fails to destroy the core simply due to the resistance then the team that outfought, played better, worked harder, and deserving of a win turn out to be the losers. Honestly I don’t mind be spawn killed as I just sit in the back and wait for them to come to me, so they have to come where I have already set up. Otherwise they just sit outside or destroy the core but either way I get req points at the end so… yeah

if the win went to the team that has three bases after the timer is up then that could be something to talk about. otherwise it’s not fair, why should the guys that obviously did worse get the win? cause they are too childish to realize that they aren’t the best halo players out there? cause they didn’t coordinate their movements? cause they failed to work as a team? they failed to do all that so they get to win. Nice system can’t wait to try it.

Oh, I misread it. Yeah, that’s dumb. Don’t be dumb, OP.

It wouldn’t work. The farmers would simply let you capture a base before the timer ran out, then take it right back with a fresh 5 minutes. They do this in assault, defend until the last second then walk away and let you take the base so the game can continue.

Hopefully the OP just had some issues with wording and what he intended to put was that the losing team has 5 minutes to push back out and capture a base otherwise they lose after 5 minutes of their core being exposed.

It’s not dumb. I specifically said they should take a page from Warzone Assault. If you fail to destroy the Core in Warzone Assault, you lose. It doesn’t matter if you captured the other two bases or not. I wouldn’t be apposed to giving the win to the other team though, just as long as the match ends quickly.

All this will do is disband SC’s and that won’t sit well. How about random players in WZ start using mics instead of having the mic open hearing nothing but complaints about being killed. Instead use the mic to coordinate a counter strike.

Well, the thing is that in Assault, the point is to capture and destroy… in Warzone, the objective is to accumulate points, so if you got more points that the other team, the win should be yours

One way to counter that is just like how the core’s health doesn’t get reset if a base is taken back the timer can be made so it won’t reset as well.

It would be better if it dropped to 5 minutes and then the team with all 3 bases wins, not loses. It makes no sense that they would lose if they are winning like that.

Warzone Assault is different because each team is assigned offense and defense at the beginning.

Besides, with your solution, you’ve only exacerbated the problem. If teams know that holding two bases and killing bosses is the surest way to win, what incentive do they have to push for that third base and the core? Why would they take a possible loss over a guaranteed win? The smart players won’t try to take that third base and now the game is even longer as a result.
