People are now starting to suspect that this is actually a teaser for Halo 6 (crack on the visor)
You think it’s possible that 343 would even go that type of route? (considering this scene was never in 5 at all)

I really hope so.
I mean… this is the first trailer I’ve honestly seen from Halo where the scene did not make it into the game in any way. So, honestly can’t help but be a bit curious.
Also… the trailer itself only says “Your journey begins on Xbox One”. It doesn’t claim to be Halo 5 at all
Its a possibility…
This was the 1st Halo trailer when the Xbox One was announced (or released)

someone said it reminded them of the arc level
This was announced at e3 for halo 5. It’s not for halo 6 at all. 343 informed everyone that this wasn’t in game footage. It says 2014 for Halo: MCC. At the time they didn’t know if they would name it halo 5 or if they would go with another name.
Nah.
Its a concept teaser for Halo 5. Remember that he gets his visor cracked only a third of the way into the game; not at the end.
It pretty much depicts exactly what Chief does in Halo 5 (for all of 3 missions! :D) in that he goes on a quest to find Cortana; which is somehow connected to the Guardians.
Obviously they couldn’t show Cortana and they even avoid giving the Guardian blue eyes (which would have been a major giveaway that she was controlling it) so they have him grip a chip similar to the one she had to emphasise Chiefs intent. Hell, its the only trailer for Halo 5 that’s actually close to what occurs in the game.
Also, just as an aside, this trailer came out 2 years ago in 2013 and people still didn’t cotton on that Cortana hadn’t died in Halo 4. I am not saying there weren’t any youtubers or posts to that effect but the general level of denial right up until the game dropped is just plain ridiculous.
It makes sense… Chief looks like he’s on The Ark, which is the known location of the dormant Forerunner ancilla Mendicant Bias, which could be the only AI to have a chance against Cortana and all of her AI companions with The Domain in their possession. Bias wants to make up for his betrayal of the Forerunners back in the Forerunner-Flood War. However, remember that Mendicant was captured and changed by a Gravemind (Which also turned him against the Forerunners, which leads me to my next point)
Once Cortana and the Guardians are defeated, I feel that The Flood could still have some control on Mendicant, and could either turn him against humanity or lead them into a Flood trap, which could lead into Halo 7 or the second half of the H6 campaign (depends if they want to pull a Jul 'Mdama or not)

Yeah I’d be very surprised if they did bait and switch with Cortana as the villain. They spent like, 2 entire games setting her up as the main villain. Like it or not, this is obviously the main conflict of the Reclaimer Saga and they have yet to seriously start even hinting at bringing the Flood/Precursors into the equation. Which I am sure they will eventually do; just not now.
They would have just introduced Mendicant Bias as the villain in Halo 5 if your theory were true.
I have noticed that general sentiment though. There seems to be almost a disbelief that they would make her that important to the storyline and obviously this is just a way to introduce the real enemy on stage. The only way that would happen is if the writers completely bottled it and tried to write Cortana out of being a villain. But, they’re committed now with the scale of Cortana’s actions so theres no way for them to back out of it.
There is a reason it says halo without a number. Also if you look at whats actually going on in the trailer story wise after what we know after halo 5, it all starts to fall into place. That guardian in the trailer is not like any of the others we saw in halo5, there is a huge chance that master chief is tracking down mendicant bias to get help from him to stop cortana, domain what ever is conotrolling her, cough flood. lol. but yeh its interesting. And its quite old so even if it wasnt a thing the ideas are still there in that video and they may of just gotten a little ahead of themselfs in terms of how far the h5 story would take us.
There’s a “5” made of clouds when it pans to the sky at the end, if my memory serves me well.
I’m just going to assume that cutscene was part of the many other pieces of cut Halo 5 content. Maybe it is from a cut Blue Team mission since the campaign was rushed and there wasn’t many Blue Team missions…

Actually I bought the artwork book, the early designs for Guardians were wildly varied and different to what they ended up as. Originally they looked almost Lovecraftian with cable tentacles coming from their faces. This is just an early concept for what a Guardian would look like as it was in 2013.
You’re overthinking it. Cortana still has her rampancy from Halo 4. If she was suffering from the Logic Plague she would have destroyed, much less activated the Halos as this would prevent the Flood harvesting biomass. Also, given the level of personal responsibility Chief has for Cortana, its obviously going to be him and not some other force that deals with her.

That’s very superficial. Its the most accurate trailer given it came out 2 years before the game was released.
The reason the rest of the Halo 5 trailers are terrible is because they outright lie about major elements of the plot and character motivations. Its not that we don’t get to visit this planet or that scene doesn’t quite occur as depicted. Saying the Chief is killing civilians, that hes activating the Guardians and that Locke is sent to kill Chief or ever wants to kill Chief is simply not true, nor is it even a mistaken belief by the UNSC/Locke .
All this trailer shows is Chief goes on a quest to find Cortana and its got something to do with the Guardians. Which, is what happens in his missions in Halo 5. Stuff like the locale, design of the Guardians, the poncho, is largely superfluous since the core of whats shown does occur in the game.

Well to be fair 343 stated way back that Cortana would not be in halo 5. I can’t remember where I read it but it was official. So there wasn’t really any reason to doubt that Cortana wasnt in this game. Then all of a sudden, she is.
Interseting about the differnt designs for guardians. BNut also remember that medicant bias was burid in a desert, hence the trailer. All tech is now -Yoinked!- after h5 hence chief with a cloak to protect his messed up armour from the sand.
Then cortana, and the domain. Remerber in halo 4 cortana is taken by the liberian, we still dont know what happend to her, what if part of her was taken away and the rest of he was what was used to save chief.
Then we have a domain that has been left since the forerunners were wiped out that has god knows what left in it. WE have a possible precurser gravemind to deal with and what better way than to use the domain and corana as a puppet it can hide in the shadows.
If it is some kinda flood form that is using cortans image and memories then the halo 5 legendary ending where you see the a.i start to reactivate halo arrays would make sence. It doesnt have to be the logic plague that is conotroling cortana could be soo many things, gravemind, medicant bias , hell could even be the didact it was recomposed and could very well be in the domain. Hell just lison to the things cortana says during the last mission in h5. She speaks of changing the imagine of those od apose her and recreate them into there own image, sounds alot like what the flood do to me.
Also i know we’re going abit off topic from the trailer here lol. but i might as well add it in here, what happen to the medicant bias. Which i feel is a big key to things in h5 and even in this trailer from years ago
Mendicant Bias (“Beggar after Knowledge” as revealed in Halo: Cryptum) was the Contender-class Forerunner A.I. charged with organizing Forerunner defense against the Flood. It was later defected by Gravemind turning it rampant and against the Forerunners.
So the most powerful A.I ever was taken control of by a flood gravemind. The terminals in halo 3 state how medicant bias wants to atone for his sins, part of him is on a desert location on an ark, hence the trailer. Chief looking down at cortanas data pad then finding a guadian in a desert lol. i duno it just made the connection for me personly, over thinking it? tbh i hope not because i think this would be great way to take the story. Bringing the mistake of the forerunners full circle and having the one that started it all help stop a similur A.I not make the same mistakes he did ect. ect.
Well, at this point we already know that nothing 343 puts in the trailers for the games makes it into the campaign, so, theory debunked. Sorry fam.

Because that would be a major spoiler, why do you think every Halo 5 trailer tried so hard to avoid mentioning Cortana was in the game? The game is called Halo Guardians and she is their master; shes pretty relevant to the game.
They could only reply to that question in one of two ways, lie, or refuse to answer the question. The latter would simply confirm that she wasn’t dead, so they just denied it. How do you think people would react if the devs candidly confided the plot to the curious and then spoiled the story for everyone else. So of course they lied.
Its not all of a sudden. That trailer was out for two years. What other possible way is there to interpret that trailer that doesn’t involve the Chief looking for Cortana? He killed the Didact so it can’t be revenge. Plus theres the fact that you don’t actually see Cortana die in Halo 4. Because applying the notion of death to an incorporeal being that can divide its consciousness into multiple units is extremely difficult; without her chip shes basically just data. I mean she says “most of me is down there” and “I am not coming with you this time”. She does not say “most of me has been destroyed” and “I am going to die”.
Yes I can agree with that, however I’m not really sure the guardians will be reused in Halo 6
