Actual Classic Mode

I think that they should develop a game mode that goes exactly back to the Halo 3 settings. With the items instead of armor abilities. Change the weapon settings so that some weapons aren’t as underpowered as they are now (i.e. spiker). Shields could even go back the way it used to be. Active Camo Means I’M ACTUALLY INVISIBLE (also needs to be an option for custom games along with unlimited or grenade regenaration back). Power-ups on maps again. I’d at least like the items, Nade Regen option and the actual invisibility back. Especially the custom games settings need to go back to the way that they were. Taking these things out were painful to some so it’d be great to have the best of both worlds.

That would be nice.

Halo 3 is hardly classic. In fact go and play Halo 3. It’s still on Xbox Live.

Classic Halo is Combat Evolved and Halo 2.

I think that the game should continue to change some (and by some, I mean much more drastically than you suggest) for the mere sake of keeping people interested and possibly improving the experience. Halo 3 wasn’t perfect, the Lazer was a machine of absolute death to vehicles and there was the annoying non-hitscan issues of the bullet ammunition weapons.

Just suggesting something and the point of me saying this is to get the kids like me that like the old way too into Reach More I Love Reach But I Loved the old way too, and Why not be Specific by saying from 3 so it cant be misunderstood like the community (myself included) Thought “Sweet i’ll get to play the classic multiplayer online” and got maps that are phenominal don’t get me wrong but the old engine feel is what people want and also don’t want to be stuck playing a game going on 5 years old.

The Halo books stated after the humans lost reach alot of tech was lost. Like AAs. So I don’t think AAs will be part of the game.

That would be good and bad because i like them but they didn’t mesh well with custom games

Halo 2 is classic multiplayer, not Halo 3.

Halo 3 is not “classic”. Whats more is that Halo 3 is still online and has a few thousand playing on any given day. So it’s a bit redundant to include a mode in Halo 4 that plays like Halo 3… no?

The classic Halo game is either Halo 2 or CE, depending on who you talk to, but almost no one will deem Halo 3 “classic”. It was the worst out of the trilogy.

If the game sticks to the old Halo gameplay, then we won’t need Classic mode. The only reason it was in Reach was because Reach changed so much.

the trick isnt a button combo or anything like that.
in anniversary it was select to change the visuals.
in halo 4, ejecting your halo 4 disc and exchanging your halo 3 disc will change the mechanics and visuals.
Same works for reach!

Even if I could go back its not the same and even if they go back to halo 2 settings I wouldn’t mind. And as or just popping in halo 3 just like when odst and reach started to come about announcements of the servers dropping and I imagine that the same is going to happen and I should take back my definition of classic I didn’t mean that they should remake a halo 3 for 4 I just think that they need to go back to all the games and find those things that cause huge uproars as we traversed from one game to another. Just so I can stop being attacked my favorite multiplayer format was from 2 but I think a huge increase came with the 3 format and I liked the items and the custom games settings in 3.

No, Halo 4 should stick to one “mode” of gameplay, and that’s what it was developed as.

Not a dozen -Yoink!-ing modes trying to cater to every single person.

OP, you do realize that H3 is not considered “Classic Halo” right?

Sure, it’s part of the original Trilogy, but in terms of gameplay and impact we consider CE and H2 to be the Classic Halos, H3 to be the “Intermediate” Halo and ODST and Reach as the “Modern” Halos. H3 would be considered intermediate for the simple fact that it falls right in between what CE/H2 and ODST/Reach do.

That being said, I do agree on the fact that (no matter how H4 is going to play) 343i should add a Classic playlist. Think of it like CEA within Reach now, but just limited to maybe 1 or 2 playlists and no dedicated maps (outside of Forge maps).
Not because I do not trust 343i in whatever they’re doing. Not because I’m afraid I might not like the new gameplay. But because I think such a playlist would simply fit well within any Halo game, so that if you’d want to play classic style Halo for a bit you can play it within the same game.
