Acts of kindness

What is the best act of kindness you’ve ever done for someone?

I once was walking around in a Mantis (keep in mind this is Legendary Warzone Firefight) and saw a Ghost just sitting in the middle of the roadway. It was kinda beat up and was going to despawn in several seconds anyway so I decided to stomp on it. However, the moment I hit the button, I saw a player running right for it and instantly felt really bad because he really wanted that vehicle. So, as an apology, I got out of my Mantis and offered it to him. He took it and no lie managed to keep it alive for the rest of the game! He even landed as number three on the leader board!

If the WZ game is not sweaty then I will hold weapons dropped by teammates so that they can come back and get it. If it is an intense game then sorry, I will use it to the best of my abilities.

Fair enough, I’ve done that plenty of times. I’ve even dropped weapons for team mates to pick up and use.

OP, you give me a sliver of hope.

I had an act of fake kindness happen to me a few hours ago, the guilty kind which made it even worse. It was on Escape from the A.R.C. I was doing my thing for the first round and somehow made through round one alive and on level 3 requisites. Short backstory before I continue here: I almost never call in a sword, rocket, or ONI Hog because I cannot ever be left in peace to just park away from others and gun, move to a better location, and gun again. A certain percentage of players don’t get it and they have made that vehicle type with better weapons just about unplayable. Yeah I know, it’s a tEaM event but they’re also team killing when the owner of that Hog has made it clear that they don’t want a gunner or a driver. Besides, I have seen two separate Hogs with lone operators do more to help the Team by watching each others backs and decimating bosses and hard to kill enemies than gung ho zeroes trying to be heroes and don’t do anything because they use the Hog to run over instead of protecting their gunner or get their gunner into a better position. Yay, so much fun! NOT.

Anyway, I figured it’s been awhile, maybe I may take a chance and use a sword. Wrong. As soon as I came up and drove into a tunnel to use as cover from the Phantoms, I already had two people lose their minds trying to get in and gun. So I backed away. Message still not received. So I turned completely around and drove to the other side. One of them somehow got in. I pointed the hood at the ocean to give the hint, he got it and ran. I drove past him and got in the gun to take out the Elites in their Ghosts. That same person got in the drivers seat and completely turned my vehicle around and drove us both into the water out of spite. I was done at that point. I hid in one of the bases by the garage and gave up playing. This same person that ruined it for me came by with a Ghost and was purposely griefing me, then left because I was on a platform and he got bored. This was already round 3 by the way, I had fallen obviously behind on the kills and lost all heart. He came back again, drops off a burning Wasp and tries to get my attention. That only made me more upset. Round four begins and it seems he has totally forgotten me, which was nice. Round five five begins and he drives in with a Sword and gets out and points at it and me. Round five, I’m still in the teens for kills, and this griefer actually thinks that it’s an apology to make things right??? Just NO.

Now while this “person” may have tried, it wasn’t trying at all when they had completely ruined it for me. Game was almost done, and the only way I could have played was by everyone backing off and letting me get as many kills as the lead player, and more bosses killed too. But the bosses were the red, and realistically undo-able and would not have been fair to the others whom didn’t do what this “person” did. In watched the video afterwards, the griefer was no way sincere and I can tell he stopped near the end because he kept looking where I was AFK in place and paused to only what I can assume to be was vain attempts to message me. I had already reported and blocked because honestly I would have not been nice at all messaging back with wishful thoughts never ending lego’s in their shoes and socks all day.

tl;dr this wall of text? Don’t be that person, take hints when a lone Hog shows up and way from others. Let them operate it as they see fit. That’s a true act of kindness, don’t be selfish and ruin it for them. Remember, they are playing it just as much as you are to unwind.

In WZ if I see someone get bombed that was using a Norfang or a nice weapon I’ll hold it for them. If they don’t come back to get it, Oh Well…

i just gave an ONI mantis to a guy that was in a damaged sword ghost during a heroic Warzone firefight game

but i did that just to buy a Hannibal mantis with my req points.

I don’t mean to start something, but this entire wall of text sounded pretty selfish to me. The Warthog is designed to be run by multiple people. It’s not meant to be run solo. Otherwise, you’d man the guns from the driver seat, like every other vehicle. They added the seat-switch mechanic as an emergency “oh crap my fellow passenger just died” option. Since 2001, the Warthog has been a “co-op” vehicle. Literally every other vehicle is designed to be solo-operable. If you call in the one vehicle that needs an extra hand to operate, then there should be no surprise when someone tries to get in with you. And you’re right, it is a team gamemode, and not sarcastically. And the fact that this “person” (not sure why they need quotes, cause I’m pretty sure they were a person) came back and offered you a vehicle of their own is pretty in this climate, I feel like.

I don’t purposely interrupt a teammates assassination attempt. Like, you successfully caught your opponent unawares, congrats. I’m not going to be an -Yoink- and go for the Yoink! medal and if I do get it, it wasn’t on purpose.

You couldn’t be more selfishly wrong on all accounts. I was using “this person” in quotes as a way to not use profanity and best left to one’s own imagination. Now about that Warthog…Is it really a team by forcing them to be ruined by a player that is being selfish? Whom is being more selfish, the person wanting to be left alone, or the person wanting to ruin it for the other so only they get to be the superstar with the kills? It’s no coincidence that I am finding way more samples of these types uninvited guests that lose more WZ than they do with wins in their service records. Hull down, firing from position giving over watch is an actual thing. You want splats, get your own Hog. You want to gun, again, get your own Hog. As a team, a bunch of separate Hogs will ruin the AI and bosses by using supporting fires when next to each other. Or would you rather ruin someone else’s fun by stealing their ride or what they wanted to do to the enemy and be inconsiderate? I have YET to find any random wanting to drive to actually not use the vehicle to splat making it impossible to get the gunner some kills. That is NOT teamwork. Drivers drive, meaning no splats, they are keeping their gunners safe and giving them better fields of fire. Don’t want to be a team, don’t get in while they are alone and gunning.

And what that person did, is not pretty at all. Remember, there are two people here. Some of us just want to have fun. If I drive alongside of you, then you are invited. If I don’t and get away from you, take the hint. That is truly being pretty in this climate using your own words.

And if Hogs were not meant to be solo, then why are there scout options? We all know why, no sense and pretending to be coy about it.

Well I mean this goes both ways, but letting someone finish their assassination (or if it’s flip-flopped, someone letting you finish your assassination,) its gotta be the smallest but kindest and satisfying things. Obviously, if things get intense then yeah it makes sense to just have them finish the enemy off quickly, but if no other enemies are around, it’s like “THANK YOU!” Again small, but very noteworthy.

I don’t extend my kindness often, but some people get the honor of getting T-bagged by me. They get to feel my magnificent crouching spasms on top of them for what seems like a lifetime because it’s so euphoric. It leaves them desiring it again so much that they will try to endlessly find me to experience it again, but only a select few who show me they really need it will get to enjoy that bliss again.

"whom is more selfish?" Your second choice is exactly what you’re doing. You’re refusing to have passengers so you can get more kills and be the superstar. lol

"I have YET to find any random wanting to drive to actually not use the vehicle to splat making it impossible to get the gunner some kills." You obviously haven’t had me behind the wheel. lol If you have the free time, look at my last 5 FF matches in theater mode. Being the considerate driver occasionally can easily provoke others to return the favor. I’ve seen a lot more people doing this since I started. Lead by example. You want people to drive better, show them how.

"Don’t wanna be a team, don’t" …get in a warthog. lol Again, they’re designed to be run by at least 2 players. Don’t want someone jumping in and ruining your “rise to kill superstar” , then get in literally …anyothervehicle. lol

Also, the scout hog. One word. Transportation, my dude. lol Convey you and fellow Spartan across the map in record time! Who wants to run the whole way? FF is on a time limit. Ain’t nobody got time for that! lol

I too have been known to extend that kindness to others

and giving someone a bane

Oh man, I can’t tell you how often I’m firing at an enemy and a team mate comes out of nowhere to assassinate it and by the time I stop firing, it’s too late, I’ve yoinked their kill. I just feel really bad because I have people do it to me on purpose all the time.

Acts of kindness are great. Even though there are plenty of time where my nornfang was never given back. big sad

D: I would totally give you back your Nornfang if you wanted it (I’m kind of bad with Snipers anyway, I normally dump them on my friend whenever a random Weapon Req gives them to me).

IIII bRian IIII,

No, l am not and that’s the cold hard fact here. But from the looks of your own logic, you are projecting your own annoyance that someone doesn’t want you to be that selfish person here. Tell me, which part of wanting to be left alone do you not understand, as in, being obtuse? Griefing, which is a selfish act by ruining another’s game play because they want to be left alone alone and not taking no for an answer, is griefing by definition.

And lose the lol. This is a formal discussion, not informal.

Your sample size does not undermine or devalue any less my various samples. If I don’t know you and you don’t know me, how am I supposed to trust a random whom is determined to get in at all costs? That’s the sign of a bad player, not the other random wanting to be left alone.

No, lol, they are not. By design, yes. By user self deployed and not in the map already as a community, NO. That means your narrative doesn’t fit the actual game play.

And again, your narrative, is not the actual reality here. No, they use it to drive and splat by themselves during round one as a way to get to level 3 or two faster than everyone else with not a care that they are making the game not fun to others and certainly not a care to betray or drop shields while getting that kill lust high… That is not teamwork., completely the opposite.

I hope that we never meet up on WZ, as I certainly do not want to be playing with team killers. WZ is not slayer, and slayer is not WZ. Let the guy alone in the Hog have their fun. Are you going to die in real life or lose the game? No, you won’t on both accounts. Are you going to ruin it for the other? Yes, you will. Don’t be that guy. Some of us just want to unwind from a day dealing with people, and the last thing we want is to get the selfishness while trying to unwind. Critical thinking is everything.

Once again, a positive thread is tainted by the incessant whining of someone who needs to share their misery with all of us…

Anyways, my story is the time I gave a Sword Wraith to a player. I got it from a random vehicle REQ, but I don’t really like running Wraiths. I dunno what it is, I think it’s just a bit too floaty for me. I see this guy run past, so I give them a signal that I’m ditching the Wraith. They hop in and I go about my business. Good stuff.

Yeah, I have no idea where the negative convo came from or is going, so I’m just going to let them figure it out. I mean, I myself don’t really care for when people use Warthogs to steal kills early on in WZ FF, but it’s just a game and everyone’s entitled to their own brand of fun. I can’t really tell them they’re not allowed to use the tools provided and if they don’t want someone in their Hog, it’s whateve’s. At the end of the day, it’s just a game and we all just want to have some fun.

That’s such a nice gesture though to give someone else your vehicle! I love the Wraith, though I prefer Halo: Reach’s version as it feels better to operate! Halo 4’s mortar was just way too heavy to be reliable, you had to aim much higher than anticipated and often you’d end up hitting some scenery instead of your target. Halo 4 was probably the first time I ever preferred a Scorpion over the Wraith. Halo 5’s is alright though, but if I’m going to use a Wraith, I’d rather use the Wraith Ultra. I normally just give mine to a random who’s running by
