I for one use active camo in every game mode on every map, it’s simply an overpowered design that either needs a significant nerf or complete deletion. Why does active camo come out as overpowered? Active camo lasts too long, makes you COMPLETELY unidentifiable, and promotes camping with a sniper or DMR behind the pelican on ragnarok.
My proposal- reduce the time of active camo dramatically and perhaps cancel out the effect completely when people are in the air(so that the radar isn’t effected and they can know where you are.
Or you can take the better option which is deleting it completely from loadouts. Deleting it would discourage the use of promethean vision a bit more and stop people from camping so much.
Three topics calling for some aspect of the game to be nerfed. You’re on a roll tonight, Arcane.
I’ve personally never had an issue with the camo. It does not make you “completely unidentifiable”. The moment it activates every player in the area knows your general location via the motion sensor, knows you’re cloaked and is going to be on high alert.
(Camping is a totally legitimate play style, by the way.)
I think promethean vision will be used regardless. I use PV to know where the action is (but if they put back the "X"s to let us know where the most recent death is, it’ll make matches flow a lot better. Other than that i’m suprised AC is so useful. I personally love it. It’s easy to counter with PV, or use a hologram to distract the hologram user.
On a roll? I guess so but I decided to take a night to hammer out everything that bothers me and see what people think. Actually i’d say that you’re the one on a roll trying to disprove what every thread written in the last week had to say.
Something about camping with a DMR and active camo tells me that people won’t be right next to you and even when they get there the problem is in part that they aren’t rewarded enough, it doesn’t make you completely invisible but I literally have people walk right by me and look right at me and then just walk away.
EDIT: oh and one more thing about camping being legitimate. Sure it is, it happens in every game that gets released, the problem with it is that its antifun(who wants to play a game where your base is surrounded by enemies that refuse to leave their optimal advantageous position?).

I think AC is fine the way it is. The only armor ability I’ve gotten frustrated by is Promethean Vision, but I wouldn’t go as far as asking for it to be nerfed.

Completely unidentifiable? That’s a joke lol. I’m not sure if you’re trolling or if you haven’t played matchmaking or what the deal is. I use active camo in every single match, if anything it’s under-powered. I’ve been killed in numerous situations where I used camo as intended for the reasons below:
A. Promethean Vision
B. Since Halo: Reach everyone knows the radar scrambler is native to the camo.
C. I’ve seen plenty of kill cams where I’ve been killed by good spotters with long range weaponry.
D. It doesn’t help that Overshields and shield recharge paints a target on you.
E. It’s weaker than Reach’s Active Camo armor abilities with a shorter timer.
This is coming from a guy that lives off of Camo. That being said I’m not here to complain about how weak it is, I’m here stating that you’re just flat out wrong.
The reason i’m fine with promethean vision is that when I try to pull a nice play and it gets foiled, I can just sprint away and try again on someone else(although it is annoying). Active camo provides players with a way to completely avoid mid-long range enemies and makes snipers even more unstoppable than they were. You guys might find it weird that active camo snipers are more prominent now than before but here’s why: In reach you needed sprint to get to the sniper before your allies, but now you can either sprint to it with everyone else in the beginning or just go get your own.

I guess you must be a joke. I too use active camo every game and I can tell you that the particals produced by shield recharge are nowhere near enough to catch someones eye unless they’re looking directly at you, why are you standing in plain site while your shields recharge anyways? Try going up against good spotters with long range weaponry without being invisible and tell me if you can see the difference. The radar scrambler isn’t an advantage but it’s certainly better than in halo 3 when people could straight up see you on radar, or isn’t it? They could completely remove your radar presence but that would be OP as hell. promethean vision is the only effective counter to someone hiding with active camo(what AC is made for) and even then they can just move to the side when the PV effect wears out.
Just because you love active camo so much doesn’t mean it’s fair, get used to it
Its easily countered if they are nearby, if they have a sniper far away then go in fast with a vehicle or sprint between cover. I find that since camo users rarely move they are easily stickied.
I love how some people here are saying they can use PV to counter camo… how so? i use camo and pv and you cannot see camo people with PV. The trick is if you hear the ping from PV quickly hit Camo, even if for a visual player they could pick up the look of a moving or barelly camo guy, PV doesent you are completely invisible for it as soon as its active.
If anything Camo is the direct counter to PV. Both are annoying overpowered -Yoink-.

>Guess what? Both PV and AC both has quite a short fuse. So it barely make no difference.
>You’re right it’s not fair, it’s under-powered. Just as I’ve stated, they’ve nerfed it from Halo 3 to Halo Reach and now Halo Reach to Halo 4 it gets nerfed again. I adapt to it and I’m not the one posting a topic complaining about how unfair it is against others. You need to get used to it.
Woah Camo is awesome and btw it leaves several blue markers and makes sound when you cloak. Most of the time I kill people while cloaked when they are not paying attention. Other than its just as powerful as the other abilities.
AC is only good if you don’t move. It’s definitely not OP in my opinion. Halo 4 is just too fast and there’s not a lot of chances to be absolutely still.
AC is op, why? in reach AC wasn’t a big issue… somebody sometimes jumped and you died, but here you have ordinances so AC + shotgun/sword you name it every few minutes it’s starts to become a problem
I say completly delete it from load out
and add it as an ordinance that should balance it
Camo is annoying when whole teams are just corner camping the day away but other then that (which is irritating playstyle, not the AA itself ) I don’t mind fighting it and it’s with hologram in the AAs I don’t use category
My opinions on…
Promethean Vision: slightly annoying but can be countered by using your radar and quick reflexes, and by Autosentry
Jetpack: useful but as always sets the user up for getting sniped/headshotted
Autosentry: useful for lone wolves and for setting up ambushes
Regen field: haven’t used it much so can’t really comment…
Thruster pack: beyond useless
Hard light shield: a godsend in Spartan Ops but tends to act like Armor Lock in war games… leaves you slow and vulnerable to getting shot in the back
Hologram: useful in close quarters for confusion, and a godsend in Flood mode
And finally active camo, which I raged against since Reach because of its ability to make radar useless and encourage noobish camping and shotgun or rocket crouching. I understand there are players who need camouflage to make them feel better about their abilities, but at least in Reach the effect was noticeable enough so a sharp eyed player could distinguish a camo user from the wall behind him. Camo in Halo 4 is too invisible and needs to be nerfed down in the visibility department. Duration and radar effects seem about the same to me.

I’m sorry did I say that active camo was made to counter promethean vision? no, i said the opposite, which someone above me said that you cant see cloaked people(I dont use PV so i wouldnt know, just going off what ive heard) so i guess it really isnt countered and therefore does make you completely unnoticable. The duration is short!? After using active camo since the day after launch id say for sure that it isnt short. The place it needs to be in imo is a low cooldown single engagement skill that will only last long enough for you to optimize your next fight, not for camping in corners all game. I meant the plain site argument more generally as in why would someone be standing right in the middle of things in the first place with active camo on, sorry you got it confused.
The problem is that, as an AA it promotes a playstyle(camping) that takes away from the fun of the game pretty severely and often leads to spawnkilling.
