Active Camo is balanced IMO

Well we all know that active camo is going to be in Halo 4 as an armor ability, but I don’t see why people hate its return. It was my favorite AA in Reach and the radar jammer made it fairly balanced along with the energy dilution from movement. I think itll be good for those who perfer stealth over head on rush tactics.

Now before I end this post.

Rage at me bro…

Active Camo was better when it was a pick up on the map and you actually had to work for it. Nowadays game developers make things easy by letting you spawn with it as an AA.

It’s just the generation we are in. Everything is less challenging than it used to be. Take a look at Reach’s credit ranking system for instance.

I agree, Reach TU Active Camo is perfect as it is. You’re not 100% invisible, and you are forced to move slow, and THEN you jam your own radar and let the enemy know you’re there. To me, active camo is easily beaten, so I’d hate to see it nerfed more.

Agreed I use it and I don’t get fooled by it.

I have no Idea why people don’t hate AA active camo as much as jetpack at least you can see a jetpacker at long range.

AC is very good for the stealth specialization thhey hinted at too.

The motion tracker thing was quite annoying, it was buggy in reach…
Promethean
Vision justification?

The thing is, Halo’s cloak hasn’t really been OP, at lest until it became an AA, then it became OP.

Now granted, most people have problems seeing cloaked people, so I wouldn’t mind if they buffed it by making it so you do show up on radar, but you’re barely visible.

It is the energy bleed while moving that is the problem. Why would you want to encourage someone to stay put with camo? All it does is slow down the pace of the game.

That said I am not against the camo in theory. It actually worked better in the Beta when there was no/less bleed and you could tell exactly how well camouflaged you are. I saw people use it as intended. A stealthy way to move around open sections of the map.

I would prefer a Heroic/Legendary version of the H2 Arbiter’s camo. It was use it or lose it and it went to zero as soon as you fired or throw a grenade. It encouraged quick and thoughtful movement rather than slow and campy like the Reach camo

Active Camo was way too powerful in Reach. It’ll be much better if it stayed a Power-up.

^^This, anything that alters base player traits(Transparency, damage, health, speed) should be a power-up.

Also, lol at anyone who plays a “stealth” play-style in Halo. You mean camping in the back of the base with the sniper and then camping the spawn, or camping in the base with a shotgun spamming the camo all game long? Because, I dont see how you can play a “stealth” playstyle in Halo unless you want to hurt you’re teams chance of winning.

Stealth doesnt mean campy but rather ambushing other players by suprise and lol if all you do is get owned by those guys that camp at the back of those bases with snipers and shotguns.

This would be much better I believe  AC in reach did too much to encourage a player to stay put. And the jammer is truly arguable; plenty of situations where it benefited the user, and just as many not.

It should be ditched as an AA completely and become a powerup available in Infinty Slayer through Ordnance Drops. On classic playlists, it should be a map pickup as it always was before Reach.

100% this. Camo should be earned, either as a map ordinance or a personal ordinance at the least. Not given to the player off the start to use whenever they feel like hiding for 10 seconds.

Halo is designed to discourage “stealth play-styles” thats all im going to say. Many measures are taken to ensure that players are not just in a boring stalemate from clean map design, to power items, to having shields, grenades, to the spawn system, to even recently with Promethean Vision. if you’re playing a stealth playstyle in Halo your doing it wrong. Not to confuse “stealth” with “Smart” because the two are entirely different. The best Halo players are constantly moving and making on the fly decisions to help their team.

Camo off spawn is contradictory to the game.

I guess having it as an ordinance powerup (or pickup on classic gametypes), and actually working for it would be better… but I don’t think Active Camo as an AA should be thrown out completely. Why not leave it available for custom games and keep it out of matchmaking, or Ranked “arena-style” playlists at least. That way people who like it as an AA can still have fun with it, and it won’t p*ss off the competitive players. That way everybody wins.

^^^^^^
THIS

Just look at how camo plays completely different

Camo in H3 = offense / sneak the bomb in

Camo as an AA’s in HR = defense / can’t sneak the bomb in

Camo - needs to return as a power up on the map or a ORDNANCE DROP but not a personal one .

Problem is that it encourages camping which slows down the game a lot, swordbase anyone?
I never though I’d see the day when they gave cheats to all players, but Halo 4 offers both invisibility and wallhack as abilities, add extra auto aim and you’re done :stuck_out_tongue:
On a serious note, I got to say I like the PC/wallhack since it can be used to counter campers. Halo needs more of that stuff, and less “invis shotty dude on swordbase/invis cross map sniper at Haemorrhage”.
Halo at it’s greatest is when people are running around trying to get power weapons, map control or at least some kills. Halo at it’s worst is just like CoD, camping a corner trying to get a high k/d no matter what, even if your team gets dominated due to your camping (aka 1 less effective player).
