Say what you will, but Action Sack is pretty stale now. Let me list some changes I believe would be appropriate.
Snowball Fight: Romove, remove, REMOVE!! I can’t put into words just how much I hate this gametype, and it’s not because I suck at it. (I don’t, every game now I’m always within the top 3.) Personally I find it to be quite boring, repetitive, and quite frustrating. I do not find any joy at all here. And, wasn’t it supposed to be a seasonal thing to begin with? Sure, it’s cool for the first couple of matches, but after that it just gets really old. - Prop Hunt: Remove. I find this to also be quite boring. If you’re the seeker all you do is just mindlessly go around shooting everything with your Grenade Launcher and hope you just happen to get a kill. If you’re the one hiding, all you do is just pick a spot and camp and do literally nothing. You don’t even hide as a prop anyways. There are a couple of those on the map but nobody ever uses them. Of all the games is Action Sack, this one has to be the most action-lacking. - Minotaurus: Remove. While this one isn’t really boring or anything, I still find it to be quite bad. The maze is extremely cramped for the Mantis and at times it can be hard to see what is in front of you. It just doesn’t have any fun in it at all. I mean, it’s a great idea, but I feel like it was executed very poorly. - Battle Golf: Remove. This is mostly due to the people that play it. Literally every game I have played was ruined by people trolling or just not playing the objective at all. My first game I had a teammate just constantly press the ball reset button the entire game. Another game after that I was about to swing at the ball when my teammate jumps right in front of me and I kill him on accident. He then proceeded to spend the rest of the game trying to kill me. Another game after that the entire enemy team flat out ignored their ball and spent the entire game hitting our ball away and killing us. Battle Golf is a great gametype ruined by trolls and it just doesn’t work with the current player base. - Mantis Breakout: Keep, but for the love of God add more maps! The only reason I want Mantis Breakout to stay is because I find the only boring aspect of it is the map. I’ve seen Mantis Arena II and III and they look really awesome. - Skeeball: Hmm. This is a tough one. I personally like it, but I can totally see why others do not. I guess I’ll go ahead and say remove because from what I have seen most of the player base does not like it, and I can’t see how any amounts of editing and changing can make it better. - Rift Ball: Keep but change the map a little bit. This has got to be one of my favorites, but a couple recent games revealed a few glaring issues that when abused make me hate it. I find it to be really frustrating when the enemy team just grabs the ball and throws it across the entire map and scores… 5 times in a row. I hate how easy it is to do that and how helpless your team is to stop it. I think the map needs a few more obstacles blocking the goal from crossmap throws and some dynamic gravity volumes that could completely change the direction of the ball in a moments notice. - Diminishing Kings/Crazy King: Move a team objective playlist. The only reason for this is that I really don’t think koth belongs in Action Sack. It belongs in an objective playlist along with ctf, Assault, Oddball, and Strongholds. Imagine regular Infection being added to Action Sack. It just doesn’t fit. - Mongoose Sumo: Keep! Need I say more? However I would LOVE a Mongoose Sumo FFA variant. NOTE: the number indicators on the map that tell you when they will despawn are out of sync and need to be fixed. - Paintball: Keep. I find it to really fun and the closest thing we have to real Breakout. (The Breakout with Shotguns sucks, and I can’t believe that 343 never changed it back despite the massive negative feedback.) - Ground Pound Arena: Remove. This is another one of those games that is cool for the first couple of matches but gets really old after that. It is just so repetitive and gets boring really quickly. - Husky Raid: KEEP!!! Who doesn’t love Husky Raid? Sure, it can be a sniper fest at times, but they will always run out of ammo eventually. This is by far my favorite Action Sack gametype.I think that covers all the games currently in Action Sack. If I forgot something PLEASE let me know. Also let me know what you think of everything I said here. I certainly expect someone to disagree with something I said as everyone has different tastes.
Now for the stuff I feel should be ADDED to Action Sack:
Mongoose Sumo FFA: As mentioned in the OP, I really love Mongoose Sumo. When I saw it for the first time (before Action Sack was even a thing in Halo 5) I was blown away by how fun it looked and the first gameplay video I saw of it was FFA. It was pure chaos. Teams are still pretty fun, but FFA looks even more fun. - Drag Race: I’m sure many of you have played it or at least heard of it. Drag Race consists of teams of 2 where you spawn with random weapons, including REQ variants. One teammate must drive the Mongoose on the race track and be the first one across the finish line while the other rides on the back trying to kill the other Mongooses (or the people riding them). First team to get 3 victories wins. Unfortunately I do not have any drag race maps so I cannot link any of them below. - Ro Sham Bo: Super Fiesta with 1 life on very linear and symmetrical maps. What could go wrong? First team to win 5 rounds wins.
Vehicle Fiesta: I remember how popular this mode got when it was first created. It was my most played custom game and even hosted many full custom game lobbies. I mean, who wouldn’t like slayer with random vehicles? My friends and I played it so much we got bored of the map so we made 5 more: Downtown, Frostbite, Sunburnt, Scarred, and Cauldron, with the latter being assisted by the famed Forerunner Forge Master Portaleer! (He’s the guy responsible for Pyromancer, which is the best looking 2v2 map I have ever seen IMO). I must give a huge shoutout to him as he was just a wonderful person giving me help and tips for doing Forerunner stuff in Forge. In case you’ve never played Vehicle Fiesta before, here’s how it works: you spawn in a room with 2 green doors in front of you. Choose a door and simply walk through it, and you will find yourself in another room with a vehicle (Warthogs and unarmed Mongooses are not included here, since the driver has no guns). Just get in the vehicle and you will be teleported into the arena. First to get 75 kills wins. Do NOT get out of your vehicle because you will die.

I would like to see mantis breakout removed. Breakout style games are just toilet to me. Skeeball make a FFA game and not team. Get rid of riftball, or maybe put it in griffball? I love ground pound arena and snow ball fight. I wouldn’t mind seeing prop hunt removed as well.

FFA Skeeball sounds interesting. It would require huge edits to the map though.
I don’t think Rift Ball belongs in Griffball, as it’s kinda it’s own thing.

I wish I could say snowball fight and ground pound arena were repetitive, when I did play action sack I rarely ever got them. I pretty much stopped with action sack because mantis breakout and riftball came up way to often and I don’t care for them at all.

Agree totally, well thought out and explained your absolutely right I can’t and won’t play action sack at all it’s so stale !!! I’ve never understood why the game types in it aren’t rotational , even just a little bit. Also if 343 had some sort of prize / incentive for a community made game to be put in and rotated out every season would be awesome. There’s some really creative people out there and would be a good opportunity for developer and players to work together to create a unique and fun experience.

Thanks! I really only hop on it now in hopes of getting Husky Raid or Mongoose Sumo. I won’t be happy if they don’t refresh Action Sack any time soon.
