No, not the armour itself. It may not be the best looking (does look pretty good), but it is certainly the most unique.
The problem is in how to unlock it.
Having something that takes a lot of effort to obtain is great. The fact that you have to team up with 100 people that you’ll likely end up playing with at least some of, is better.
The thing with the kill commendations is that it encourages farming. People get farmed in warzone, that’s part of why they had to get rid of 12 man teams. People get farmed in objective modes like CTF and Assault. People farm warthog races for Pete’s sake. Even I’ve done my share of farming, in grifball I’ve farmed plenty of poor just-spawning souls for melee kills. I’ve joined warzone and been no help to my team because I’m farming marines.
The only safe playlist is WZFF, which I’m sure not everyone likes.
Of course there’s nothing that can be done at this point. I just hope some more careful thought is put into 6’s “that armour.”
I think having a collective ridiculous amount of playtime could easily have the same effect since it would still use Spartan companies and require a lot of effort. It would also eliminate the need for having a good resumé to join some companies; as long as you play a decent amount, you’re good. And it would mean the people in the company could put their time into whatever their favourite playlist is.
All this, and it would greatly reduce farming. There’s always going to be a few people that just want to pad their stats, but that number is far fewer than people who just want that awesome armour.
EDIT: To clarify:
Farming - intentionally delaying the end of an objective-based gametype in order to “farm” the enemy team for whatever commendation you’re working towards.
Grinding - playing the game normally, but putting a special focus on specific commendations, like starting aggressive for first strike, getting a lot of beat downs in swat, etc.
The armor has been out for what, almost a year now? And you post this now? I’d understand if you posted this during the time Achilles was what everyone wanted, when farming was the biggest problem, and you had people just ruining the multiplayer experience. But why post this now?
You complain about something that you have taken part in. Your argument becomes moot at that point. I have earned both the armor and helmet without farming, and was in a company that promoted no farming. It took about a year.
There’s going to be farming no matter what. The main point is don’t be that guy who says, “I’m doing it because everyone else is.”. It’s better to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

Because people are still doing it. You run across farmers all the time. There’s always going to be more groups that are working toward it.

My point is that the nature of the armour promotes it, so no, my taking part in it does not make my point moot in the slightest.
And I’m not “doing it because everyone else is.” I’m doing it because it’s the fastest way to progress towards it. I’ve been working at getting it for the better part of a year. When my company finally got the body I said f— this and jumped into a new company that’s much closer to the helmet. I’ve put a ton of effort in already, I want to get the helmet.

I don’t run into them “all the time”. Can’t even remember the last time I got farmed. All those “farmers” are probably randoms that are were more coordinated and have you tripled capped in minutes. Not all farmers are teams, they can be randoms too

Triple capping isn’t farming.
Farming is holding all the bases, and just spawn killing until the time runs out, like happened to me by a team of at least 8 (all identical emblems and company) a few days ago.
Farming is having all but one ball scores/bomb plants/flag captures and just killing the other team until the time runs out.
I also never said they had to be a team.

It’s not that big of a problem anymore, granted, but it still happens regularly. I’ve been spawn-killed for a Whole lot of Grifball lately, but haven’t really had the issue in WZ for quite some time now. I guess it just comes with the grinding mentality and I can’t really blame people for the grind or how they do it. It sucks, but hey - take the L, leave game or study them strats yourself I say.

Others have done it because it’s the fastest way to do it. So, yes, in essence, you are doing it because everyone else is doing it. Still a bad argument.
The armor promotes farming because you and others have made that choice to farm in order to get the armor sooner. This armor was not intended to be a quick get, but there are a lot of impatient players nowadays. Once again I say be a part of the solution not the problem, and like others have said it is not that big of a problem anymore.

I’ve had the same issue in the Rally Warthog Race! I posted this issue just recently, but twice have been farmed since some fools decided to block the finish line with a mount of unmanned Rally Hogs. It’s despicable.
There’s no proof to support your theory. Achilles could have probably been executed better but it wasn’t the cause of farming… Farming was going on before Achilles and would have continued on without it.
At this point it’s a status symbol. If you openly wear it people will think less of you regardless if you farmed for it or not, because in the end that’s what most people do to get it and it breaks the sacred vows we try to keep as gamers.
In the end though it is the main reason Warzone went down in popularity.

Not At the same scale. I never had problems with farming until the armor was introduced. Even today, every other match I’m placed in with it against an almost full team of meat heads trying to unlock the suit.
I played every day when Halo 5 came out on Warzone, but today WFF is the only playlist I can stomach.

Except the fireteam limit is still set at 6 players, unless you’re getting really unlucky with who you’re matched with.

The few instances of genuine farming I’ve had in recent weeks (all JIP’d games for me) were by guys who already had the helmet. Hell, there were reports of farming going on in Warlords the limited time it was up which was definitely biting the hand that feeds you with wanting that play list to be permanent. People inclined towards being tools generally pull it off.
Farming as a term gets thrown around way too loosely here.
I disagree. My Company got our Achilles last July, we were one of the first 25 Company’s to get it worldwide, and we farmed it in legit ways. We never ruined peoples WZ matches to gain commendations, we never messed with MM to get into low ranked SWAT games for easy headshots, or anything like that.
What we did do is have contests with prizes like XBL gift cards, and 1month XBL gold passes. We had leaderboards for commendations that the top 1 or 3 would get rewards for. We did the grind for MONTHS, literally changing my playstyle. All of my starting strats became very aggressive because I was hunting for first strike medals for so long. Stuff like that. It was honestly one of the most fun experiences I’ve had while gaming.
I’m still mostly a WZ player, as you can see from my past games. Sure there are a lot of teams, but WZ is very playable.

Hence I said “almost” full teams. Having 6 man teams doesn’t make it any less effective. You can spawn camp with 4 players with decent vantage points and no concept of fun.
