Will Halo infinite have one of these challenges? If yes, which one would you like to see? Maybe both?
I personally enjoyed both, they both have their pros but I think the vid master challenges were more rewarding.
Achilles brings 100 members together to grind towards one goal. I have been through the grind twice now & the community you build around it is amazing. I also wouldn’t mind seeing something along the lines of a “solo achilles” grind with a different reward then doing it as part of a company. As per the Achilles grind, I feel completing lvl 3 & lvl 5 comms should also be a bit more rewarding then a basic req pack with a scout hog & plasma pistol. Maybe something along the lines of unique unlock, little incentives essentially you get on the way to the big prize (if they decide to do achilles again that is)
The vid masters to me seemed more rewarding since the challenges were indeed harder & you had to complete certain objectives (just my opinion). The achilles grind is more correlated to time spent in the game, eventually you will unlock it, some do it faster, some slower. Finally being able to unlock the recon helmet after grinding 7 different challenges will always be a found memory for me, it was a blast.
Let me know what you think!
Would really love to see the return of vid master challenges. The recon helmet made you look like the ultimate badass in matchmaking and everybody automatically respected you haha. 343 should really consider bringing that stuff back. What have they to lose?

I agree! I think it would be cool to have a few different challenges to go after. Something like the Achilles grind can get repetitive & tiresome at times. Have a few different goals to focus on would always keep things fresh.
I haven’t done the vid master challenge but the spartan company/Achilles grind is the only thing that keeps me motivated to play the game. It’s one thing that 343 got right. Although as you mentioned, the rewards along the way should be better - level 5 no hard feelings is to kill 486,000 Spartans and you only get 1,000 xp and a couple of common reqs. That’s pretty messed.
Would love to see a solo Achilles type quest coupled with the idea of the vidmaster. I haven’t personally done the vid master but love the idea. The company Achilles is also awesome. Perhaps some user friendly tracking tools built in.?.
I’d also like to see some rewards for the other aspects of the company comms and total company comm completion.

I think a built in company tracking tool would be awesome. As well as some type of Company leaderbaord that ranks & compares all the companies in terms of progress, stats etc.
Right now there is a huge amount of pressure & responsibility on the Leader & LTs of companies. If somehow 343 made is easier to see how much each member is contorbuting say each week along with playtime, im sure a lot of people would appreciate that.
The discord bot is great for that, but i can see 343 making an in house system very similair.

Yeah the grind is what keeps me going as well. Yeah some little incentives along the way can really add some sense of accomplishment.
I feel there should also be some type of emblem or cosmetic reward for those that complete the grind more than once, something to show off to others. It would be a really exclusive item for sure. (maybe some type of exclusive name plate they can get for each time they finish)
I think challenges are fine, but Achillies was not obtainable for solo or small companies, a variant that could be obtained through solo play would have been nice. I would like to see more challenges for different gear, but no rng loot system attached.
Edit = A co op company challenge could be good too.

When i say solo Achilles i would mean breaking down 1/100th of all the comms to be obtained.
Hmm what would a co op company challenge be?
A co op challenge for companies would be awesome, assuming you mean 2 or more companies team up for bigger challenges.

That would be cool! Especially being able to work with brother companies all fighting towards one goal would be cool.
I am also curious if they will expand the member threshold to over 100 members. I know there was talk about this when companies 1st came out for H5.

I don’t know if I’d like having over 100 members in a company…it’s difficult to get 100 grinding members as is so if it was 150 for example, more people would be getting rewards without putting in the work IMO.

Yeah that is a valid point. It would add a lot more work too for the Leader & LTs of the company when it comes to managing everyone & their progress.
While I’d like to see both, if I had to choose one it would be something more like Achilles. I get that a lot of people didn’t like the way Achilles was earned, and that as someone who loves the grind in games I’m probably in the minority, but the communities that were built through working together to complete the company commendations was a lot of fun. Sure, I could do vidmaster achievements with three other friends, but with the spartan company commendations I was able to be part of a much larger group that became a subset of the Halo community, and that’s what I thought was more rewarding.

Yeah I think the community we built has been great, just like you said. The grind keeps me playing pretty much, & its fun to do it along side 99 others. We also plan to bring the core of our company into Infinite if they do have something similar, which I think would be great to continue with the community we have built up in H5.
I’d love if they brought back both. I remember doing vidmaster challenges with my buddies and it was the funnest thing ever. I don’t have Achilles yet but the grind gives me a reason to play halo 5 and Achilles is one of the best looking armor sets imo. I’d also like it if they made it so there were more armors to be unlocked via achievements, and cosmetics should come back. Like the katana from halo 3. Also with a lot of changes, I would welcome the req system into halo infinite.

Completing the Vidmasters is by far some of the fun I had back then. I think there would be room for both of these, or maybe something similar. I agree with you & armours being unlocked via achievements. I am all for the progression system & achievement based rewards 100%. Gives even more incentive to grind, & when you want a certain cosmetic you know what you have to do to obtain it. Making it that much better.
