Is there a way for kids to earn the Achilles Armor and Helmet? As far as I can tell, only adults have that privilege through playing in Spartan Companies.

You have to be part of a company in order to do the grind. You have to have an adult account to use the waypoint messaging service which is required to join a spartan company.
