Well I basically completed some H2A campaign missions while having some connection problems, after a while I realized that I wasn’t getting any achievements at all. After looking around a bit on Xbox homepage I found out that this is a thing- you do not get achievements when not connected to the internet. I checked with microsoft support later on to see if they could do something about it, I was told that my achievements will, as I play, automatically come to me… Which they have not for about a month now.
Will I really have to play those maps on Legendary again just for the sake of getting my achievements?
If you earn achievements while not connected to Xbox live, the achievement won’t actually pop until you are connected again. You don’t have to re-earn the achievement or anything like that.
However, if they are still stuck after getting back online, check the status of the achievement in the Achievements app(not the in-game menu in MCC). If the status of the achievement says, “Done, Unlocking…”, then it’s just a matter of time until it unlocks. Microsoft seems to have been having frequent problem with this since November. Sometimes achievements will be stuck in the “Done, Unlocking” stage for a day or two, sometimes it can take about a month.
As for why Microsoft decided to use this sort of achievement system for the Xbox One as opposed to the way the 360 handled achievements, that’s still a mystery. I suppose it prevents the extremely miniscule percentage of people who use to hack achievements on the 360 from doing the same on the One, but it creates way more headaches than it solves.
