So obviously the sun setting of the 360 games is in a couple of days, and that most likely isn’t going to be postponed any further.

But what about the achievements? These games had tons of matchmaking only achievements that will no longer be obtainable after the server shutdown. Even now, many of these achievements are near impossible to get, for one reason or another.

I think 343 should make it so that either people just get these achievements or make it so that they can be earned in custom games instead, so that they’ll still be obtainable. No, it’s not a high priority issue, but it wouldn’t take long to do, and it wouldn’t be the first time it’s been done. Bungie made a couple custom game modes in Reach to allow two achievements to be earned in customs, and the main three Halo 4 DLC packs were set up later so that by just playing a match on one of the maps you would receive all of those achievements for the DLC.

It probably won’t happen, because chances are nobody from 343 is reading this post, but I think it’d be a really cool surprise for them to do it, and it would be a heck of a way for them to send off the games instead of just anticlimactically taking down the matchmaking servers
Anybody else with me on this?

Being able to obtain them after sunsetting would be great. Custom games would work, but I guess almost nobody would do them legitimately at that point.

Literally the only people who would be able to get them after sun setting would be people hacking/modding that get them anyway

True, but hacking achievements directly would get them reset. Modding, probably not I guess since it’s an old game and modders are fairly frequent on Halo 3 Lone Wolves.
