You know the story, the newest Defiant achievements are map specific, but since the chances of getting a lobby where everyone owns the Defiant map pack are astronomical enough (let alone the correct map showing up, and then the even more unlikely circumstance of enough people voting for it), I can’t get them, unless I get incredibly lucky.
I still want some Defiant achievements, but since they’re map specific, I cannot possibly get them, or at least it feels that way.
Seems there’s an obvious solution to this. Either make it so that the new Defiant achievements aren’t map specific (making them that way was a terrible idea in the first place), or make a playlist for Defiant maps. Even if I wasn’t going for the achievements, I’d still be mad that I never get to use the maps I paid good money for. This goes for the Noble maps as well.
The Premium Battle gametype was the closest they had, but for some backwards reason, they removed that too.
I don’t have a problem with not being able to get an achievement because it’s difficult, but it’s another thing when it’s because of the game’s limitations. Come on 343 Industries, prove that the community means something to you.
I’m not going to get into a debate regarding the current playlist breakdown, but I do very much agree that the new Defiant achievements are extremely frustrating and unfair. The idea of creating achievements that are both map and gametype specific is unreasonable in my opinion. Especially given the current playlist settings, finding a match on a defiant map is extremely rare. Then consider that many of the defiant achievements must be done in different gametypes, and it becomes a very frustrating experience unlocking them.
37 games of Failfection today, and I didn’t see a DLC map in the voting options once. It’d be nice to be able to get the achievement so I never have to play it again.
I’m still annoyed by the removal of Premium battle and that there was no premium list for FFA, Infection, and other stuff as well as the apparant refusal to make the playlists DLC required for those of us that actually showed support.
I should not have to full party boost to get an FFA gametype achievement due to most people not buying the mappacks. I’d rather not boost it. The one flag achievement is definitely understandable to boost, and so is the armor lock one now that Premium Battle was removed.
They removed Firefight Limited just so they could have a duplicate FF Arcade list that only had one map in it. They removed Premium Battle which actually let us play the DLC, and we never even had a Premium FFA list which would solve the problem of the maps/gametypes not showing up.
But really, the problem isn’t necessarily in the task, but the fact that they’re map pack specific. I have to get lucky enough just to have a chance to attempt the achievement. It was perfect the way the Noble and Defiant achievements were in how they could be unlocked on any map as long as you owned the DLC. The only map specific achievement was Breakpoint: Invasion, and that had a legitimate reason to be map specific. Something in the title update unlocked all of those for everyone though.
Then they saw fit to add 3 new Defiant achievements, for the least popular map pack in the game, and make you have to do them on those maps. I don’t like the pack specific on Anniversary either, but at least I can guarantee Anniversary maps show up, something impossible to do with Defiant.
they’re map specific if you have the maps. i have a friend thats got map specific acheivements on the default maps. i do the requirement on a default map and dont get it. its Yoink!
and because my Reach discs (both my Legendary and Standard Editions, they both do this for some reason) wont read/load the maps anymore, i cant get the new acheivements cause i play on Anniversary disc. only thing I was dissapointed about with Anniversary was it didnt come with all of Reach’s maps (like ODST did). waiting a lil over a month for Anniversary to come out so i could finally play Reach again, and only get to play a map pack with five playlists, and 7 maps >:(

I agree with everything here, except for a small detail with Anniversary, the infection one is just as hard to get as the others, I don’t even know if infection is in the anniversary FFA playlist.
Yeah, the new achievements are pretty annoying. But oh well, if you play enough it’s just a matter of time before you come across the gametypes and maps.
> You can get Infection in Anniversary playlist. It’s definitely more common than Headhunter.
Yes, but then there’s the problem of there only being 8 players. This means that you have to spawn as a zombie and kill most of the humans. With the horrible map designs in regards to infection and 2 other players running for those kills, the achievements are nearly impossible.

The Last Man Standing one is the one that’s annoying me. It’s a Defiant achievement unfortunately.
As for the 3 humans infected one, I think I got that first or second Infection game in the list, but I could see how that one could be a problem.
> You can get Infection in Anniversary playlist. It’s definitely more common than Headhunter.
The problem is that there are only 8 players. 3 zombies, 5 humans. And since Infection is incredibly broken and you aren’t the only one gunning for kills… meh. You might as well boost.
I remember I was playing with a friend and I almost got the achievement on Penance. I hit the last man and he was about to fall into the water. I had two kills previously… and then my friend took the kill. >:(
Achievements used to be challenging, but fun to unlock. Many of these new achievements aren’t fun and they are hard to get because the system is literally working against you.

I wouldn’t say they’re impossible, but they are very, very difficult to achieve legitimately. If you’re going to try and get the map specific ones, I heard that deleting the other unwanted map pack off your harddrive (you can download them again for free) helps the desired DLC maps come up more often in matchmaking. The only other strategy is to play with a full party, who all have the map packs.
