achievements and the need to boost

Ok, before anyone starts to rant about boosting achievements id like to state that 95% of the achievements I have throughout the halo series I got legit, that being said there has come times where, after playing in a set game type for hours on end watching as the game mode I need gets voted against or having my one and only shot after hundreds of attempts foiled by a stray grenade, that I have resorted to boosting… why ? because some of the achievements are stacked far too heavily against our odds. now I know the whole point of achievements is that it challenges the player but too much of that challenge comes down to a ridiculous amount of luck, draining all or most fun away from gaining them. I personally at this minute in time dashboarded whilst in a game lobby because yet again the one time the game mode I need comes up it gets vetoed :frowning:

anyway seeing as there has to be some point to this post id like to see your opinions on game mode dependant achievements and also the difficulty and luck needed for some of them (“two for one” comes to mind) or even your thoughts on multiplayer achievements in the first place.

personally I would like to see a vast majority of achievements be moved from multiplayer into the upcoming spartan ops but with the difficulty to get them still set pretty high… but not too high as the case is with some of the ones we have now

Some of the game mode and certain maps achievements shouldn’t happen because they are too hard to get and it’s so rare to get them, there is no point to try.

Some achievements either require friendly help or some form of a boost. That’s just how games and devs are.

Cough Don’t Touch That! Cough

Seriously though, I did all the requirements for that at least three times and never received the actual achievement. When there are too many requirements for an achievement, it starts to piss people off. That goes for all map specific achievements.

One of my friends is a real Halo pro, and even he thinks the MP achievements are ridiculous.

He got the “Save This Film” achievement the first day it came out, and still said “That should not be a f****** achievement”

I feel the same. I mean, get the First Strike or a Killing Spree would be fine, but the advanced stuff is going overboard.

Any Multiplayer achievement is just annoying as it only relate on luck and most of the time it is wayyyy too much specific playlist that are not even available or do able anymore.

Mass Effect 3 nailed it perfectly by doing both cross solo/multiplayer achievement that could be unlock either by doing something specific in mp or only something else in solo.

SAME HERE!! i got so mad i just pulled to disc out and i refuse to play Reach unless i have a full party of people to help me

I know how you feel bro. I wish you luck

All the default halo 3 MP achievements were vompletely asinine. They were based on luck and they had to be done on lone wolves. But when you become a high rank it gets difficult because the other players know what they are doing. This lead to boosting.

Reach’s default MP achiements were more acceptable if you ask me.

When I look at halo3 achievements it’s like there is one for everything possible. Double kill, triple, over, killtacular! it needs 5 point per since there are so many. I think there shouldn’t be any in matchmaking - it just means you have to play a certain gametype ro get it which some people don’t want to do. I’d love to play invasion or assault on breakpoint but chances of that happening are slim to none.

If there are achievements in game they should not be in multiplayer and if they are it should not require some agonizingly difficult feat that uses luck as a factor.

I’ve run into that problem in Halo 3, some of those achievements are brutal! Reach is the same way, with the achievement for preventing the other team from touching the flag its like people go in there with the sole purpose to pick the flag up, throw it down and not go for it again.

Can’t we all just get along and work together for five bloody minutes?

agreed just let us be able to get them in custom games if you want to have braging rights its in your service record

In Lone Wolf the game starts with 4 player. Very, very rare to find 5 or 6 player. So the Overkill Achievement nearly impassable.

Really, you necroed a 9 month old thread for 3 sentences?

Stop Trolling, Please.

Its not trolling, its pointing out a wrong move. You would have gotten your point across better posting a new thread.

Also, don’t ressurect OLD threads. 9 months is way too long. 2 months would have atleast been acceptible.

I remember watching my bro on Halo 3. It was near the end of the match and he hadn’t died once after getting 15 kills. He didn’t get the achievement though, because right near the end of the match someone thought it would be funny to betray him…

ARRGHHH!

Also, how old is this thread?

I liked the halo 3 achievements a lot. double kills spartan laser, triple kill with sword (can’t remember the others), I got them all (played 1000 MM games total, no idea how early i got the achievements) with no boosting. Some were hard but all were possible through normal play (bound to be an exception I’m forgetting…).

Don’t have the DLC for H4 so no need for me to worry about those achievements yet.

urrrrgh fooled by the necro.

overkill listed above also very obtainable, just a big challenge
