Account THEFT PSA and Request for Halo Waypoint

Hello Moderators,

I fully understand that I violated the Halo Wars Forum rules in my previous post by calling out an individual who had threatened the individuals who played against him in a game of Halo Wars that I played yesterday on my lunch hour. However, I do believe that your organization and affiliates are not doing everything possible to protect the individuals who are using the Xbox LIVE service. I have watched as many individuals who have not given out any public information get hacked due to people being able to trace IPs, ISPs, and the names associated with it. It is not hard to get information about a person and phish with it using simple free tools available to anyone with an internet connection.

Sadly, it is more common today than any other time in Xbox LIVE’s history.

I was simply messaging the community that would be affected by this individual and making mention to them that someone is sending threatening voice messages to people about hacking their accounts.

I am sorry that this violates YOUR terms of service for this forum, but the fact that MS, a company that OWNS AND OPERATES Halo Waypoint and the game Halo Wars is denying the issues and not spearheading them forces the hand of people in the community to warn each other.

What better way than to post where everyone communicates?

I propose that Halo Waypoint adjusts their TOS for the forums and creates a forum within 343 dedicated to investigating these claims within the Halo community? How about helping the community by creating a forum that actively pursues leads based on those in the community that don’t have a tarnished record for abusing, cheating, threatening, or doing things that may hinder someone’s security?

MS has put in place a warning system that allows users to leave feedback, however - this doesn’t always stop people as you need a significant amount of feedback to be investigated prior to a suspension, ban, or a complete console ban.

This I believe makes sense to anyone who would take the time to think about it. Bungie, the predecessor to Halo Waypoint investigated anyone believed to be cheating and would ban those who violated the rules of the games and simply would investigate claims people within their community did. This appears to be an area that is shunned by Microsoft and their affiliates who are not Bungie.

If this makes it to the eyes of Frankie - help the community Frank. You remember the days when people would standby, and mod, and do everything to win in Halo 2. Today’s rampancy is account hacking. Many people will threaten to hack and nothing ever happens, but the community should not be taken hostage by those who do follow through. I believe that people who harass others within our community should be punished for their actions.

Please make a forum dedicated to investigating individuals who are threatening to hack Xbox LIVE accounts.

I would love to see something pro-active be presented for the community to have a forum and bring to the attention the people in charge that a real problem has arisen in the past 4-5 years and is continuing to run rampant and un-checked.

Thank You,

Heartfully agree.

Could we add investigation on glitcher abusers and modders?

Provided evidence exist.

If they are threatening to hack Xbox LIVE Accounts, file a complaint, the user will get suspended or action will be taken efficiently.

“Could we add investigation on glitcher abusers and modders?”
There is a File Complaint option for both of those.

Yeah I know. Two weeks ago I filed a complaint against a glitcher who openly admitted that he abused a glitch, his whole team, and will continue to do it. That team is still playing.

I have a film on my hard drive with them getting outside of the map, then one of them killing us through the floor. All of them safe from bullets and grenades, we weren’t.

I see the current system is working…

I totally agree with you XxX Post XxX. I totally disagree with you The Little Moa. Microsoft does not care about complaints.

Actually, they have a team of individuals that investigate every complaint filed. I personally feel that yes, they do care about complaints!

why wouldn’t they care about complaints?

Well… It’s not working currently.
