The problem with Halo Infinite is its just broken and boring to play. The campaign experience was fun to play but not repayable. The game is literally made more for Halo 3 and Halo Reach fans then anything else.
Like one of the main things Halo brought to the table just like every other Halo game before was a new experience all together. Halo 5 made people fill like a super soldier with the advanced movement system. Halo Infinite feels like Halo Reach but instead of everyone having the same Armor Ability now they are pickups instead.
Which isn’t really a new gameplay experience just a slightly different one from the current version that we can all play on MCC today. Like if I boot up MCC and play Halo Reach Custom Games and mess with the settings and make smaller maps in Forge and spawn the Armor Ability on map and if I could modify the game where it looks like Halo 3 visually and that would basically be Halo Infinite Multiplayer. Yeah, there’s some things missing but the core things are basically there.
I understand that 343 really has been trying hard to keep Halo alive over the years. By trying new things out and thinking about stuff in the future. So, it makes sense to me about what they said how they are done with core audience and looking for new one instead. Only because the core audience just wants Bungie Halo with Halo 3.5 in a simple sense of things.
If 343 wanted to release something ground breaking way outside the normal of Arena Multiplayer it would get shot down by the same people that say they love Halo but instead will hate on it to the ends of the earth. Just like they did with Halo 5.
Halo 5 Multiplayer had a interesting gameplay experience that kept players of new and old feeling like Halo has finally evolved into the times of today and keeping people with plenty of things to do with commendation system. When the game first release all the weapons where basically powerful and useful. As time went on that definitely changed up drastically because of certain people that wanted things closer to the past and less to worry about on the map besides just the normal weapons in every Halo. But even so with all that the game was extremely enjoyable. Yeah, some things where missing that most people even to this day don’t even use so there was no point in adding it into the game. Which is basically a waste of data for something only a small number people will actually use.
While some of the things like BTB was definitely lacking in the least. But with the new mode Warzone that could’ve been a amazing experience if it was more of a grind to have what you wanted and the more you play the more you unlock and the better the experience becomes like a certain other franchise out there. But completely done in a way it still meets the unique Halo Universe Lore aspects but not feeling like a copy cat like what was done in Halo 4. But even though nothing of that nature came out it was still enjoyable in the least. Yeah I still wish the maps were smaller and some how figuring out a way to have fan favorite gametypes like Slayer and CTF in Warzone would’ve made the experience even better but unfortunately nothing like that came out.
Hopefully in the future with Halo Infinite 343 releases a new mode that’s base off the lore for Halo Multiplayer experience in every aspect or someone in the community makes something of the such in custom games. Only because Halo is in desperate need of something more then the same crap every game.
Infinite is an incomplete not-exactly-great game with abysmal support. There’s a little to like and a lot to hate. Suck it up? - especially if you’re somehow having fun. Like wow, it’s not enough that you’re somehow happy, you have to also whine and complain about the people who justifiably aren’t? Very toxic weird behaviour for an allegedly satisfied person.
I bet you happily eat your favourite meal 2inches away from a homeless person’s face and complain about how they’re hungry lol.
I really don’t understand these kinds of new players who swan in and disregard everything well informed fans say.
Oh no, how dare someone have a different opinion than me! I’m gonna go on twitter and harass a 343 employee that just posted how thankful they are to have a job with the company.
This is what’s happening across the board, like it or not. You’re allowed to criticize the game and its developers, but its getting rampant all over the place. People are advocating for an entire companies worth of people to lose their jobs., not just the execs of managers. Chris Lee left; he was sacked, but nobody brings that up.
Random streamers and players are getting slammed by random strangers for daring to express liking anything about it.
A lighting artist just posted a tweet about an hour ago how he’s been with 343 for two years, and instead he got a heap of hate… People who havent even played the game, or have any interest in Halo, are mass flagging and downvoting across the board.
Its getting out of control, and you’re insane if you think this isn’t having an effect on anyone.
This is my thought process too. The game that is in front of me is fun and enjoyable. Having this new ranked doubles playlist gives a new options when playing ranked with friends. Knowing that there are playlists with Battle Rifle starts is great and I love it.
Like you mention about desync and netcode, of course those things can be frustrating, but we’re all on that even playing field of experiencing challenges and we’ve got to role with it and grind even harder.
This new roadmap does give me hope, but I’m cautious because deadlines/roadmaps haven’t always been met on time.
I’m excited for the new arena and BTB maps that are coming in November and March.
Common sense and a clear vision of what’s been going on with 343i. Sure, there are many frustrating items within this game, but the overall of it is incredible and great. Many terrific items coming our way.
It breaks my heart to see the Halo community so outraged. I understand their pain, I do. For example with splitscreen being put on the backburner. But with this, everyone is so focused on the fact that they pulled resources from it to stop and think about what motivated 343 to make such a bold move. They don’t even stop to consider for a moment that 343 actually knows what they’re doing, it just takes a long time to make it happen.
The Halo community wants a cake but refuses to wait for it to bake.
I feel for the lower tier employees, however many of them are left. This situation is only as out of control as it is due to 343 leaderships incessant silence. There should not be months of silence in between updates. They should be engaged with the community and doing things such as developer amas, blogs, weekly updates, etc. Anything regardless of how small just to keep us in the loop. I mean just look at half the rage posts going around these past few days and tell me it couldn’t have been avoided had the devs decided to actually engage the community on a continual and steady basis over the past year. Hell if they had brought up like “hey we are hard at work on this feature but we’re having a hell of a time and it may not work out” as they were actually working on it not before just straight up cancelling co-op split screen with no notice, the reaction may have been a lot different. The way things are going leads me to believe the studio is nothing but a skeleton crew at this point thats hopelessly trying to do the work of a fully staffed AAA developer.
Right off the bat=a totally reductive strawman argument(nonsense) and projecting twitter drama onto myself and others lol. Just fyi I don’t even use Twitter as in don’t even have an account.
You acting like a miniscule number of toxic individuals on Twitter who supposedly harass 343i employees is somehow representative of the Halo fan base tells me you really need to calm down, take a breath and get some perspective.
Just to be abundantly clear, I disapprove of going over the line and doing things like unfairly harassing individual employees, even people like Bonnie Ross. That being said, calm down, toughen up a bit, stop actively compelling fans/customers to be angry.
I’m not going to praise 343 for including 4 new maps over a year after the game launched or for adding Forge, a staple feature of the franchise, a year after launch.
I’m certainly never going to praise a company for making a battlepass.
Listen, I have my praises of Halo Infinite, and I think there’s a lot of vicious freaks out there, just looking to tear other people down, but as someone who’s been happy to sink really money into cosmetics myself, I don’t feel like I’m being delivered the live experience I was promised before launch.
For that I’m not eager to jump back into the game, even after forge comes. My Appetite has been ruined. Maybe yours hasn’t, and gosh dang it. Good for you! I hope everyone has fun with Halo, but I’m not having fun, and I’m going to voice that.
Infinite is an immensely frustrating game to talk about sometimes because while a ton of things went wrong with the game, there’s also a lot that went right that end up getting swept under the rug because it is either lumped into the basic “gameplay good” talking point or some developer said something stupid offhandedly on Twitter and the community hyper-focuses on that for a week instead of talking about anything else.
Example, I really love the direction they went with weapon design; as unintuitive as it can be sometimes I do appreciate the pulse carbine for its weirdness, or the heatwave with its different firing modes, or the mangler for being a projectile take on the CE god pistol. The razorback is a fun party bus with a lot of utility in its storage slots and extra seats. The equipment system returned, and while they are more “selfish” in nature than the Halo 3 equipment stuff like the grapple hook and repulsor are a blast to use. But chances are you won’t get any discussion on that sort of stuff because the weekly reward is a waterbottle and people are pissed because for some reason feel like they have to grind challenges they hate to unlock something they don’t want instead of just ignoring it and playing the game the way they want to.
As for the current situation, the winter update is coming with a bunch of stuff people have been wanting for the past year or so. We’re getting forge (beta), online co-op, mission replay, a test version of a performance based XP system thank god, and some of the missing Reach armor for free. These are all great things, huge even. But, people are angry because splitscreen co-op isn’t coming, nor is the CGB, and Season 3* is coming in March. Thing being? They are right to be mad. It sucks. This is not to mention that most of what I just listed would’ve been at the game at launch. Having to wait a year or even longer for these things is not OK. But at the same time, that change the fact that these features are finally coming, and judging by the leaks forge seems to be absolutely incredible. All that said I can’t blame people who feel that isn’t enough though, or that it is too little too late, since I do agree.
*this is an area where the whole “season” thing is hurting 343, since if you look at the nitty gritty the winter update is honestly shaping up to be arguably be the most impressive one the game has had. However that’s kneecapped because it doesn’t have that fancy “season” label and so gets kind of ignored.
If you call adding day one features a year late with still not enough content to justify the game as a full title while simultaneously cancelling a promised feature an impressive update than dear god help us. No wonder the gaming industry is such a crap show anymore when this is the kind of stuff considered acceptable from a supposed AAA developer. Also just wait for forge and the purchasable item sets because I sense that news will be coming shortly the way 343 operates now a days. Gotta make up for that free battle pass somehow guys.
