Because apparently Infinite is a bad game, and 343 are terrible developers. Infinite is a dead trash game that failed to be popular and is basically unplayable.
According to all of you of course.
Apparently I’m supposed to hate a game with gameplay that I enjoy every time that I log onto. A game that charged me $0 to play but I willingly gave some $$$ for the Battlepasses since I play it so much (and wish I could play more but lack the time to). I’m supposed to hate 343 for making a dead game - a game so dead it only takes me 1/2 minutes to find a Ranked Match even though I’m in the Plat-Diamond tier. A game so dead I can wake up at 5:00 AM, get dressed and eat breakfast then pop in a couple quick matches of any non-Ranked playlist I want before work even at supposedly “Dead” hours when no one would be playing.
I’m supposed to look at an update and hate it an 343 because it tells me that in the course of 8 months I’m going to be getting for free checks notes:
Forge
4 New Maps
3 New Gametypes
1 New Weapon
1 New Equipment
4 New Events
1 New Mini-Battlepass
1 New Full Battlepass
Which last time I checked is more content than nearly every other F2P game out there has ever done, and actually beats many if not most Pay-to-Play Game Seasons as well. But apparently I’m supposed to look at that and go “HOW DARE YOU 343! HOW DARE YOU TAKE MY $0 AND…take longer than I wanted to deliver some more features after I enjoyed the base offering a whole lot?”
I’m apparently supposed to be mad at 343 for not giving me all the customization in the world already, even though they’ve given me more free cosmetics in 10 months than I’ve received from other F2P and P2P games in literal years and multiple expansions.
Maybe I’m supposed to be mad about Desync? But I lived through Rainbow Six Siege from Launch through Year 6 so I’m pretty inoculated against “Netcode Bad” after years of seeing people make the same complaint and then their gameplay showcasing that “Nah bro, you just have a skill issue”. I ain’t saying it is perfect, but I’m saying you gotta try harder if you want me to be mad over it.
There might be stuff to be annoyed about or wish 343 did slightly differently, but y’all are out here like 343 Anthem’d us or something.
Or maybe it’s just because I’m so old-school that “Gameplay fun, game playable and not broken, me enjoy time spent on game” is the bar that needs to be cleared for a game to enjoyable and things like cosmetics and having 11 billion options for gameplay that get ignored except for 3 core ones everyone plays don’t really matter to me for that level.
It was a pretty crappy thing to cancel a feature they promised 6 years ago and affirmed that it would ship with it 1 year ago. Played every game in couch coop until H5, which me and my bro didn’t bother completing together. Split screen is still present in the multiplayer, but campaign split screen is a vital part of series for me. None of what they’ve done with Infinite I believe warrants a purchase of any kind.
I’m just having issues with my mission of getting some kind of acknowledgement from the devs.
Play Infinite. I don’t care. Like I’m doing my own thing over here. Vibing, spamming @Freak_A_Fan’s page with bait medals, talking about Infinite’s abysmal aim. The usual.
But even if they won’t say it, we know why it was cancelled. Because of the Xbox One not being able to run it and MS demanding feature parity between OG Xbox One potatoes and the newest, biggest strongest PCs.
It sucks, but I’ve watched it happen in real time in my own job too; you’re absolutely certain you can get your machine to do something and you tell the customer you can, you try for months or even a year to do so, but you’re finally forced to admit defeat in the face of reality that it just will not work.
The Xbox 360 could handle split screen just fine for CE thru H4. Halo 5 if given the TLC could probably work with split screen and Infinite was born originally as an Xbox One title. The Xbox One isn’t holding it back, the team that developed failed to optimize the engine and toolset. There isn’t anything about Infinite that strikes me as next gen like ray tracing or per pixel objects.
Pretty much everything that’s coming out was either released on launch or in a quicker time period with older games than what Infinite is doing. Let’s take Halo 3:
Launched with Forge.
7 maps in a year, also started with more.
Launched with more gametypes and working custom games options to make more.
Admittedly no new weapons or equipment. But I’m sure it launched with more weapons anyway.
And the events and battlepass is just how they monetise modern gaming.
The list of stuff that’s broken or missing would be a mile long compared to what’s good.
You’re fine to enjoy the game, I’m not saying you shouldn’t, I like playing it, when it works, but you have to realise how much of a cluster this mess is and praise for a few small good things shouldn’t be given when there’s a mass amount of bad. It’s like shining a turd and being happy it’s got a bit of a shine to it, even though it’s a turd, but by all means, praise the shine.
Good luck with that friend the only time i got it was when i got lucky and met gamecheat13 in the mcc flight and we played a few games with postums which ngl was really fun and was the start of me liking the company but after all this I’ve reverted back to despising it minus the developers and mcc team
Not that I’m defending 343, but according to others around the internet, every feature and map that was present in past halos should have been present at launch.
The fact that Halo Infinite launched without standard features in games decades older and now we have to wait in 2022 for features to get drip fed released that before we received with a single purchase, is why live service isn’t viable unless you do it right. Defending that practice won’t change that practice.
I agree, newer maps would be cool. Of course it would be nice to launch with 1 or two classic maps too. I do however have an issue with all the similar 3 lane maps we got in arena.
Yeah it’s weird. New maps are great, encouraged even. But why not take the load off a bit and revamp an old map or two. No one, and I mean NO ONE, would have complained about a Guardian or Narrows remake. Both of which might’ve been pretty cool with repulsors or grapples.
please dont say “all of you”. i have never said its a bad game. i have said it is a bad halo. it lacks several franchise defining gameplay features, so for people like me that first played halo 20 years ago it feels like something completely different.
Here’s what you’re not getting. You shouldn’t be supporting deceptive practices by major companies. It’s unethical and taints the gaming industry.
This is what 343 has engaged in and that is what especially has enraged the community. The lack of Split-Screen Co-Op is a prime example. Let me show you an example of the kind of “promises” that 343 put out before the release of Halo: Infinite.
If you’re not getting this, 343 didn’t say they would “try” to implement split-screen co-op, they said that they “would” implement this feature.
You’re list of their content doesn’t matter. What matters is that none of these features were available, AT LAUNCH.
Forge, Custom Games Browser, working Theatre Mode, working Custom Games, Split-Screen Co-Op, Online Co-Op, Mission Replay, Campaign Time/Scoring. All of these features that were staples of the Halo games that they were introduced to at launch were not present for Halo Infinite.
So, what you’re actually saying as that you support the practice of major triple AAA gaming companies released unfinished, non-polished, broken products at launch. So, how about you actually think about explicit, simplistic, and concrete steps that 343 need to take to make things better. Don’t f’ing settle for less.
