I’m not the only one excited for the release of the new and updated forge for Halo: Reach. Meanwhile, however, we have access to to vanilla forge from the original Halo: Reach, and I’ve found a way to mess about with some of the new forge pieces.
In matchmaking, 343 has slightly edited many of the invasion forge maps - they’ve changed the AA guns in floodgate to those found in the campaign, added spirit dropships to some of the elite spawns, and added other new scenery pieces (like the covenant antenna) at different locations around each map.
So, if you want to access these pieces, play a game in matchmaking on one of the forge maps. Then, go to forge and go to the ‘most recently played’ map. 343’s edit of the matchmaking map should be there. From there, you can play with the new pieces you find on the map. The best map by far to do this on is Floodgate, which has 3 spirit dropships, a covenant antenna, several new barricades and covenant fuel tanks, along with 2 UNSC AA guns. On the other hand, Broadcast has close to no new pieces.
