So everyone is just mad at 343 for the current customization and progression. And whilst I agree with all of them, I instead propose a suggestion and it all boils down to the academy tutorial. 1st as soon as you click in either multiplayer, customization or acadamy for the first log in it should boot the tutorial.
In the tutorial you should be given an option of 3 helmets, 3 shoulder pads(for each shoulder to mix and match) and 2 knee caps. And you can only choose one of each for your starting appearence.
Thats already about 54 different possibilities with barely no cost to implement in terms of armor designing. Just use a few of those stay tuned ones in the reserve.
But if you also allow us to choose between 2 different colors and make a customized coating similar to the halo 3 or reach styles. And that coating is the only one we will ever receive customized to our liking depending on the number of colors available it could be neraly impossible to see samey newbies around.
The color pallet doesn’t need to be great, can be mostly black and the primary and secondary colors. And thus people will be happy from the get go, there will be more diversity at the beginning and coatings and battle pass and store will add to that, istead of being the only options
But that’s a little too difficult to implement so just a way yo choose between the current 10 basic colors in the academy itself would be incredibly more imersive and personal to everyone.
Afterall the 54 possibilities turn into 540 just because of the colors.
However the customizable coatings wasn’t implemented the only way to fix the issue of few coatings would be to make them universal as well, because right now being core restricted is bad and limiting instead of freeing like in the trailers.
After that its up to 343 if all these initial customizations will be locked or available, but for consistency sake let’s say available. And the color idea, if implemented could be one that wiill either never change or that will change if you pay a fee, similar to some games regarding dye.
Following this logic in the acadamy we should be able to choose which of the 3 beginner’s AIs we want and change its color, adding even more to the imersive and personal felling 343 aluded in the trailers.
I also know that would require more voice acting and animation for the scenes and probably adding more rooms and kind of an overhaul, but I believe that it would be worth it even monetarily for them to have this system.
Also only the scripted tutorial would give the free coating if it was developed, but if it wasn’t and everything was available in the customization menu from the get go it wouldn’t relly matter. However, subsequent tutorials would repeat the experience but wouldn’t reward with new coatings or parts if they aren’t all unlocked by default.
Even with the free events announced I still think this would be a great addition to whaterver newcomers when they first boot up the game, but if they gave more free coatings in events and the battlepass the step of adding a customizable coating would be unnecessary.
So what everyone thinks about this feedback, I’m studying a bit of game design and whilst I don’t believe to be better than anyone in the team of 343 in terms of game development I believe these changes would greatly improve casual and first time player’s experience and view of the game. As well as fix some issues currently plaguing the game.
