Sup guys,
I’ve made quite a few posts about my disdain for the ranking system in Halo 5, so this is me blowing steam and really just not wanting to feel alone as I do now. In the past 24 hours, I have deranked from Diamond 4 to Platinum 5 in Slayer. I played solo queue and with fireteams, but just could not win a game regardless of what I did. I played pretty badly today (definitely not a positive K/D, like sheerly horrible), so it could have been that, but has anyone ever had a day like this? I went from beating Onyxes and high Diamonds regularly and getting multiple Rampages and Untouchables in Warzone (got 2 Untouchables in the same day yesterday :D) to playing like a Gold or Plat player. Slayer is the only mode that I truly take seriously, so my other rankings are really irrelevant here.
Am I the only person who has had a day like this? Thanks for any responses, and if it’s just the fact that I suck, then I’ll accept that as an answer.
performance varies don’t sweat it
Yesterday, I had a terrible time. I deranked from Diamond 2 back to Diamond 1.
Allow me to list some of my game history.
Slayer match on Empire: 14k/14d.
Slayer match on The Rig: 8k/15d
Slayer match on Plaza: 12k/10d (top player on my team went 14/4)
Slayer match on Overgrowth: 9k/11d
Slayer match other Rig: 7k/15d.
I’m SR 130, how is it possible for me still play like that?
I play like a gold/plat all the time.

Do you play solo or with a group?
I have had days where im going great then all of a sudden im on a losing streak. Depends on you and your team performance

It’s possible because your SR is progressive, not skill related. You could be a SR 152 and get destroyed by a SR 10 if they were better than you.
We definitely all have days like this. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Sometimes when I’m doing that bad I try a different playlist for awhile, or another game and then come back to it. It usually helps to change up your mindset. I get stuck in a loop of bad games, and a lot of it is my attitude from the last game carries over.

Very good advice.

Excellent advice man, thanks for that. Half the battle here is trying to get out of this losing mentality that I’ve been sucked into over the past day or so, so I think a break is all I need. Most of the disappointment is found in the fact that I wanted to grind to Onyx before the season resets, and my biggest goal in Halo 5 is to reach Onyx in something (particularly Slayer because I love it). I 've been hanging around high Diamond for quite a while, so I guess it’s just a matter of time. When all is said and done, there’s always next season.

Don’t sweat it man everyone has days like these I’m just surprised you kept going lol. Usually if I’m sucking bad because I’m not in the zone or just a bad day I quit playing untill I get back in the groove

Haha glad I’m not alone. I really shouldn’t have kept playing, like I look back on it now and wonder what I was thinking. I was able to get back to Diamond 1 yesterday, which is where I should have stopped, but I got greedy and decided to keep going and lost like 5 in a row. I learned a valuable lesson through this experience: if you’re having a bad day, just take a break - it’s not worth losing a rank that you’ve worked so hard for. Unfortunately, once I get that desire to grind, I feel that I just have to satisfy it!

Well good news for you ranks are resetting tomorrow so you can hit those 10 placement matches with new vigor. I’d link the post the devs said but I haven’t bothered figuring out how via mobile.
I hate playing solo. People have no mics, no strategy, no sense… Playing with randoms will surely lower your placement.
But good news, it seems the ranks are already reset. Yay!

True that. I’m gonna take today off most likely and go into the next season with a clean slate. Knowing that the season resets within the next day kinda takes the bitterness out of this experience.

I’m so happy they’re resetting right now hahah it really makes this situation not suck so much.
There seems to be something off about the matching/ranking system. Sometimes I go in and do about what I’d expect. Other times (like lately) I’ll go in a get wrecked match after match as if Halo 5 was overrun by pros. I’m not a try hard or concerned about k/d whatsoever, but it’s definitely noticeable. Sometimes it could just be me if I take a break to play Witcher or Dishonored or something and come back really rusty.

What I can’t understand is how I’m still awful after playing regularly for a year…
