Why is there not a progressive leveling system to unlock stuff like reach? If we were told the customization is going to be like reach, shouldn’t we unlock atomic and variants by leveling up? If I play the game for 5 hours, I should be rewarded for that time. Not forced to complete challenges to level up a battle pass so I can get free armor. That’s so backwards. Why is the halo team doing away with all that has made halo Halo?
Because they need to sell battle passes. That’s pretty much it.
I’m fine with the battle pass, it isn’t my favorite system but I have accepted that it is the way things probably will be going forward, but why not let in game performance contribute to my battle pass levels? If the battle pass is supposed to be the incentive to play more then why does time put in and performance not advance it, only completing challenges does? I am disappointed we don’t get a more Reach style leveling as well.
This is a rising issue on the r/Halo Sub-Reddit as well.
Essentially no one is a fan of the “challenge” based XP progression for the battle pass. If you don’t buy the battle pass, the XP is pointless and has no value. Players are not rewarded for their time; it’s a soft push on microtransactions for the Battle Pass, XP Boosts and challenge swap tokens.
Frankly, it’s disappointing and detracts from what is otherwise a quality multiplayer experience.
