About thrusters

There are a lot of things I am going to hate about H5 and thrusters are one of them. Unfortunately it looks like they are here to stay at least until the next entry in the series, but at the very least would it be possible to have some classic/legendary type playlists which have abilities like thrusters and ground-pound removed, and for the ability to have them removed in customs?

There is still too much going against Halo 5 for me to like it, but if something along these lines happened then I may be able to get some enjoyment out of the multiplayer in spite of its many problems.

Actual 343i employees only post on here once in a blue moon. You’d be better off trying to reach out via Twitter. I’ve gotten a few direct responses for some issues I had from Josh Holmes in the past. You’ll only be met with hate posting about it on the forums.

Idk, it is different than other Halo games… But I like it (Thrusters and Ground-pound)

Spartan Abilities can be toggled on and off in customs I’m pretty sure.

I also find there to be an overwhelming amount of stuff to hate in H5, and that new trailer added to the pile.
I hope they release a classic mode so I can play something that resembles Halo.
I’m with you, OP. 343 is making it very difficult for me to want to spend 80 dollars on their game.

Only thing I’m worried about w/r/t thrusters is ground-pound.

I don’t really have a problem as of yet with ground-pound, but I hate the current state of thrusters. I think they could be balanced out much better if it were a pick up on the map or you could only thrusters once with a long re-charge time.

@Erik L

The look of Halo 4 and 5 is something I also really hate. Everything is too shiny, and the Spartans look plastic with kinda silly armor designs. My personal favorite was H3 and ODST, but if the games looked more like Reach I would be fine.

If the whole look of the game was different, spartan abilities were heavily tweaked, and split screen was included I would be much more optimistic about H5, although there are other things that also annoy me about the game.

If so much of H5 is not to your liking, be like me and don’t buy it.

That’s a shame, sorry OP.

I like the changes, find them to be improvements over the original Halo gameplay, and can’t wait to play them.

I don’t have a problem with change, I think Halo 5 is changing for the worse however. I don’t mind the addition of sprint and clamber and am open to new things. I just hate the overall movement in H5 and how it feels like a giant jungle gym.

You can change the game and still have the experience feel like Halo, 343i just isn’t doing that.

How is it changing for the worse. Halo 3 has clunky mechanics that doesn’t fit in today’s games. You don’t say the reason for hating thrusters besides it needs balance, but what balance? I don’t mind about your taste for the game, but I keep hearing the same stuff online about stuff they hate for no reason, please do us a favor and stop embarassing yourself.

It still feels like Halo to me. It feels even more accurate now, as we’ve been given abilities that finally fall in line with the reality that we’re a super soldier and the greatest fightest force in the universe. Not a slow and lumbering tank.

Halo is different things to different people, and depending on the aspects 343 has chosen to highlight people will either like the changes as a whole or get left behind. But carbon copying decade plus old mechanics from a different studio isn’t really an option.

I feel like they are. It’s got that 'ol Halo feeling despite the new movement mechanics.
I wasn’t able to say the same for Halo 4.

there will be, you dont need to worry, but of all things… thrusters? i mean halo 5 will be focused on arena gameplay, and thrusting is just a reskin of an old school arena mechanic, dashing

umm, yeah they are, everything will have toggles and classic playlists

Same here. I like all the changes. Sprint, ADS, thrusters, clamber, ground pound. Slide is alright. I don’t love it or hate it.

You don’t mind my taste for games, but I’m embarassing myself for giving an opinion/making a request for the game? What are you on about? Your post barely makes any sense. “You don’t say the reason for hating thrusters besides it needs balance, but what balance?”

But what balance? Wut? Balance is extremely important to making fun multiplayer experience and if thrusters.

As for why I don’t like thrusters, I explained that I don’t like how the game is built to feel like a jungle gym and thrusters contributes greatly to that. People can also constantly do it to escape BR/DMR duels. People did it to me all the time in the beta, and I did it as well. When you so easily press one button and escape death the game feels a lot less skill based.

@Howard

How does Halo 5 feel anything like classic Halo? The game plays much more like advanced warfare or titanfall unlike all halo games prior. Largely due to movement and the added fact that the art style and designs of the spartans and weapons are so radically different doesn’t help either. Not to mention the removal of split screen, the continued lack of playable elites, and the fact the flood won’t be returning either. You can easily tell that Halo 5 is not going to be anything like Halo 1-4.

If there will be toggles and different settings for each playlist then great. Those game modes might play a bit more similarly to classic halo, but even then I don’t necessarily want/need H5 to be the same game, just a different game from what it is looking to be.

Why do you keep embarassing yourself. The use of thruster pack it’s all about reflexes, if you don’t have that, then you suck. And what kind of balance do you want? When you use the thruster pack it takes time to move to the side you want, like slow motion. This is a fast paced Halo game and if you don’t have the reflexes necessary, then you’re -Yoinked!- everyday in the game.

And do explain that “jungle gym” expression? Because I don’t understand what kind of response is that.

Last I checked, “halo purists” don’t like a fun Halo game, they want a competitive, and adding this new spartan abilities makes it more fun, but still be competitive, but that doesn’t matter because you’re just the minority of the community that don’t want that, so why 343i needs to bother with you? Just so only the “old” Halo fans can enjoy the same game they played back in 2007. They already gave to you fair starts, map control, weapons on the map and even power weapons, basically they gave you what you want, but you keep telling yourself that 343i sucks and Halo 5 sucks so you throw away more complains like sprint, weapon designs, the announcer, thrusters, ground pound, splitscreen and my personal favourite MEDALS!!! Even if they made Halo 6 like Halo 3, you still find ways to complain about it.

You won’t rest until you get what you always want: Bungie making Halo games again. It’s what you want, Bungie started the loadouts and armour abilities, but you keep praising for a game with 8 years old. I love Halo 3, just like I love the other Halo games, because In any game that I play, I want to try something new, maybe I like, maybe I don’t, but what 343i is doing I like it’s the change Halo 4 should have, not keep the same thing from Reach, but it was a new studio, didn’t have the same resources like they have now. I’m happy that I’m going to buy the game day one, because I love Halo and I saw and played in the Beta I like it.

I wish thrusters were a bit slower and allowed you do shoot while doing it.

Right now they’re essentially just a ln escape mechanic.

They’re a boost, not a big one, and it doesn’t make sense to shoot while doing that.
